A rumoured reunion episode of BBC Two drama This Life may not be going ahead after all.
The show, which followed five Law graduates who lived together in South London, lasted for two series, and originally aired in 1996. Recent reports claimed that the BBC were planning a special episode of the programme, to mark its tenth anniversary.
However, Jason Hughes, who played Warren, has told The Mirror, "I know the BBC are marking the 10th anniversary by repeating series one and two but the idea of making a fresh drama, with the original cast? Hmm - it's probably still some way off."

Have to do with this....
aaarrrrghghghg, that would have been so good.
i could live with an episode without warren though
i've been thinking of buying this from the UK for a while now.
maybe i should just do it.
Fuck doing a reunion show, they should just commission another series of North Sqaure.
North Square?
Sadly that'll never happen; Channel 4 decided to make season 2 of *Teachers instead...
NS writer Peter Moffat hasn't had much on Teev since either...
This is the BBC's version of North Square - not good...
It is sad HEB, that show was ace. Phil Davis was fucking genius. I believe Peter Moffat just became jaded with the whole thing, and they had left it open for another series as well with the whole Billy thing.
Watch out for Phil Davis in Bleak House and Beau Brummell
A DVD of North Square would be good though!
...and now it's back on again...
This Life returns after 10 years
Wednesday, 20 September 2006, 17:10 GMT 18:10 UK
BBC cult drama series This Life is making a comeback to mark the 10th anniversary of the show.
The 90 minute one-off episode, This Life - Ten Years On, will be broadcast on BBC Two later this year.
Amy Jenkins, the creator and chief writer, said: "It's 10 years on and there have been big changes in the characters' lives." The original cast, executive producer, creator and writer are re-uniting to make the programme. Among the cast who continued with successful TV careers after the end of This Life are Jack Davenport, Andrew Lincoln and Daniela Nardini.
The series was based around the lives of a group of twenty-something lawyers who lived and worked in London. Throughout the 32 episodes issues such as homosexuality and casual sex were covered. In the one-off special viewers will discover how the group's lives have changed since they last saw them. One of them has become a commercial success after writing a book based on their friendship, and a TV production company is keen to film the group's reunion.
Series one and two will be repeated on BBC Two prior to the new episode. Controller of BBC Two, Roly Keating, said: "This Life brilliantly defined what it meant to be young in the nineties and captured the imagination of a whole generation of viewers. It's fantastic that Tony, Amy and the original, world-class cast have agreed to reunite for what promises to be one of the drama events of the year."
Filming on This Life - Ten Years On begins this month on location in London and Sussex.
is this just going to be sad and depressing? will they all look old and haggard?
will Egg no longer own my heart?
woo! I have a video of the first few episodes (strangely a latter one wasn't released )
i still have all the recordings i made off the TV. plus a screener from the ABC from when i reviewed a episode for The Guide in SMH. they're practically the only VHS tapes i still own.
Bugger!!
SPOILER WARNING
This Life's Ferdy not coming back
Monday, 23 October 2006, 07:28 GMT 08:28 UK
Actor Ramon Tikaram has said he was not invited to the comeback of cult TV show This Life because his character - courier Ferdy - is to be killed off. He gained fame in the BBC series - which also starred Jack Davenport and Andrew Lincoln - which is making a return on its 10th anniversary. "They didn't want me to do it. I wasn't asked," Tikaram, 38, said. "All I got told was: 'There's a funeral. It's yours. That's why this episode is happening.'"
His appearance in the programme had dominated his career, he told the BBC News website as he promoted his movie Mischief Night at the London Film Festival. "It's been a right millstone round my neck. I do the Gaddafi show and all people want to talk about is This Life," he added, referring to his recent appearance in the stage show Gaddafi: A Living Myth at the English National Opera.
Last month, it was revealed that filming was to begin on a 90-minute one-off special of This Life, a sexually-explicit series based on the lives of a group of twenty-something lawyers in London. It would reunite members of the original cast, with creator and chief writer Amy Jenkins promising "big changes in the characters' lives". However, she did not elaborate on the storyline.
I was surprised by now addicted I became to this series. Great characters, very well-written. I hope this reunion show does it justice.
i would advise leaving it alone. fucking loved that show. too late now, i guess.
The BBC are now showing two episodes every night as a build-up.
Now it's being described as a Christams special
Christmas
Aw, hell. Ya know whats I means
UK broadcast date has been announced
2 January 2007
I'd forgotten all about this show.. was one of my regular viewings back in the tv days.. I think I had a crush on everyone in the cast.
On today!
wow, I can't wait to see this. though I have a feeling, if I rely on the abc, I'll have to.
yeah, I think we will be waiting a while for our venerable public broadcaster to get into gear on this one.
you can, however, get the Complete Series 1 and 2 DVD Box Set from ABC shops. I got it as a birthday present, a few months back. fucking TOP birthday present, as I'd nearly worn out the old videos taped from the telly. I think that I still have a crush on everyone in the cast. sigh.
Miles now has silly hair.
Not too bad at all.
Occasionally it was out-of-character, but way better than I expected.
More a follow on from Series 1 then Series 2 though
dont tell me what happens!
I won't!
It's 80' long, and has the original 5 flatmates.
i had a london friend burn this after recording it for me tonight... no waiting for aunty, should be in the post by next week... woohoo!
New life in This Life a decade on

Cult BBC drama series This Life returns on Tuesday with a one-off special marking the show's 10th anniversary. The original cast, creator and executive producer have reunited to make the programme. Revolving around a group of five lawyers in their 20s who shared a house in London, the show broke ground with its frank look at sex, homosexuality and relationships.
In this one-off special, viewers will see how the lives of Anna, Egg, Milly, Miles and Warren have moved on in the 10 years since they were last on the small screen. In real life, the actors agreed they would not sign up for the show unless all five were on board. "There was a bit of anxiety about whether we would all click again, and whether we could recreate those characters and that working environment," said Jason Hughes. He admits it was only after the read-through with his fellow cast members that he thought they could pull it off.
Jack Davenport, however, found the whole project exciting from the start. "The idea of reprising a character after 10 years for one night only was quite tempting," he said. The former friends are brought together again after Egg writes about their time together in a best-selling book. As he and the rest of the group discover, however, success is not everything.
Since This Life ended in 1997, the cast have had successes of their own - some more than others.
The relationship between Miles and Anna has always been complicated Still best known as Milly, actress Amita Dhiri admits it has been hard to shake off the character that propelled her to stardom. "If something is successful you will be offered similar things again and again," she said. "I can't tell you how many This Life copies I've been asked to do. But I think getting known for something that was so well received is more of a benefit than a hindrance."
Relationships between the five characters remain as complicated as ever in the new show - particularly Miles (Davenport) and Anna (Daniela Nardini). Their turbulent fling dominated the previous series and there is still an obvious attraction between the pair.
The show has come a long way since it was first aired in 1996, as creator Amy Jenkins recalls. "I was kind of living in a bubble and everyone was telling me how great it was. I was on a train on my own and I opened The Independent. It said, 'This show is about as interesting as a pair of old bed socks.'"
The actors also admit to having felt unsure of themselves in the programme's early days. "I suppose Warren was insecure 10 years ago and lacked self-confidence, and I suppose I felt like that too," said Hughes. "It was a pretty hairy experience to do a show like we were doing on the schedule we were on." None of them needed to have worried, though, as the show went from strength to strength. "This Life brilliantly defined what it meant to be young in the nineties and captured the imagination of a whole generation of viewers," said BBC Two controller Roly Keating.
This Life + 10 is on BBC Two on Tuesday.
oohhhhh, I want to see it! [stamps foot] nowwww!!!
Loved it. Thought it was very clever.
It was strange though, it was like, completely different themes and ideas but using the same characters
The Guardian critic wasn't too impressed, but it worked pretty well really.
NB: Review contains spoilers
Well, I thought it was great. I think people are saying how they didn't how they turned out...well, you know, what if they became unlikable people?
There was defeinitely film within a film stuff going on with the camera woman.
I think it was about how easily life sucks you up and all the carefree fun and recklessness is gone. The simple fact that it went from the flat to a country house says it all.
Miles was great...showed how easily a person can turn into a tory, rich and succesful.
former friends are brought together again after Egg writes about their time together in a best-selling book. As he and the rest of the group discover, however, success is not everything.
gee, haven't seen this storyline before... but i guess any excuse to do another episode is fine by me.
I kept thinking I was watching an updated Bill Chill. But it's more about the characters than the plot
Same story with Before Sunset.
Well I think both Before Sunset and This Life was doing the same thing...dealing with what happens when you'll written about your friends. I think the book in Before Sunset is the film in Before Sunrise, right? And the book in This Life (and the line "do you think your friends deserve the right of reply?") is about that too.
yeah, well. It's all just an excuse for glorifying nostalgia.
How many out of 10 can you get on the quiz?
I got 9
I got 7
From The Observer
[...'They're always on the lookout for an anniversary at the BBC,' says writer Amy Jenkins with a wry smile, as we sit in her kitchen with tea and biscuits. Jenkins, who created the series when she was a twentysomething novice herself, agreed to this reunion project after the BBC had approached her longstanding collaborator, executive producer Tony Garnett.
I ask whether it wasn't a nightmare getting everyone signed up for it. 'It was hard logistically because they're all busy,' she says. 'So there was a kerfuffle about dates, and whether we could get them all. Andrew Lincoln [Egg] is getting married, and Jason Hughes, who plays Warren, is also getting married. Jason is in Midsomer Murders and Andrew is in Afterlife, and Jack Davenport [Miles] was in the Caribbean for the early part of this year for Pirates of the Caribbean. So there was a scary moment when we weren't sure whether we could get everyone together. And also we had to make it this year because of the anniversary. But somehow the will was there to do it. Even though everyone went, "Oh is this the right thing to do?", somehow nobody could resist.'...](http://observer.guardian.co.uk/review/story/0,,1967879,00.html)

I scored 10 out of 10! woohoo! apparently I win a cocaine-fuelled night on the tiles with Anna.
look, if anyone can somehow wangle me a copy of this, so I don't have to wait for the ABC, I'd be forever in your debt. PM me if it's possible and I'll try to make it worth your while.
Emmy
Out on DVD on 26 February 2007
Even better - £11.75 including delivery to Australia
So, anyone else get to see it, by any means neccessary?
Nah, not yet. but I'm chowing through the boxed set and nearing the end of season 2 so want to get my hands on it.
Coupling was on telly this week. I love that show too. Jack Devenport is getting quite famous isn't he?
Can someone point me in the direction of a + 10 torrent?
Your life is better without seeing it
Whatever happened to… the cast of This Life?
just watched the whole series, but haven't got the reunion show. Anyone know of a mediafire link for it?
In the end I think I just watched it on Youtube. Not worth downloading and keeping, to be honest.
