Commercial R&B has had some amazing powergems drop up on in it over the last few years, so drop some of yr fav's in this shit.
Beyonce - Check up on it: Beyonce's hit rate on singles is pretty solid, but this song for some reason absolutely destroys me. I swear there's actual real life magic hiding inside the song that turns your mind to a pool pardy where Beyonce swims nude thru yr dreams in a pool full of Cristal.
I'll keep it to just one before I get silly on it.
GET WITH!

*Beyonce - Irreplaceable *: Probably my favourite single of this year. I love the tune and the vulnerability in her voice adds an extra dimension to the lyrics.
Cassie - Me & U: Low key with massive rave stabs in the background. Sweet as. Doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous as all get out.
Rihanna - Umbrella: Everybody's heard this I take it. Some of you are probably hearing it on the radio right now!
Destiny's Child - Say My Name: Yeah it's a few years old now but I never get tired of it. Those verses just blew my mind when I first heard them. Still do. Awesome.
SWV - I'm So In To You: Another oldie, but it's crazy good. There are two versions I've heard. I really like one of them. Kinda got me back in to r&b in the 90s after I got sick of Boyz II Men and Prince.
R. Kelly - I'm A Flirt: Yeah.
Some oldies;
Bell Biv Devoe - Poison Still a great track, should always be coupled with the alternate reality child made version which is...
Another Bad Creation - Iesha Almost the same as the above, but by a band that was all kids. They'd be men now. That's funny. Awesome song.
Hey my first hip hop ''crew'' in grade 4 sampled that Iesha song and looped it up for our first release. I still have a tape somewhere. Wicked track!
dude! up it to the gmail or email that post modern masterpiece to me!!!
anything by the Supremes, Temptations, or the Miracles
Haha, I'll see if I can track it down 6er.
Bill Haley and the Comets
Ray Charles, Bo Diddley, B.B. King
lauren hill - doo wop
Are you missing the point on purpose Chris?
Kelis: Milkshake: Evil bass line and odd harmonies somehow come out sounding sweet
what he's saying is - those artists he's named actually have something to do with rythm and blues
partly. all that stuff was considered 'commercial r&b' when it came out
or some of it was, at least
Didn't you know, Tangy, R&B was around before the 90's.
Chris is teaching us this.
You thought it started with Bobby Brown, didn't you?
You are so musically ignorant.
we know.... yawn. the point of the thread is pretty obvious, let's stay on track. PEACE! kisses v sign
Does that fuck off mad soul track by Christina Agu-can't spell her last name fit in here? Ain't No Other Man. That track kicks some ass, by which i mean donkey and/or mule.
Commercial R&B has had some amazing powergems drop up on in it over the last few years
Nah, Chris is just trying to show the depth of his musical knowledge in highlighting that he knows what real R&B is. The fact that he's missing the point that the thread is about songs is the sad bit.
DROP YR FAV SONGS BY THESE DUDES, CHRIS!
The Ronettes - Be My Baby This song is uplifting, somehow heartwrenching & a bit haunting all at once. A masterpiece that'll never age!
Montel Jordan - This is how we do it: As with most R&B, you start hating a track, then loving it, because it's sometimes just so obvious and corny that it's almost adorable. Sweet track.
Nah, i'm not trying to show any knowledge. I'm being a dickhead. I know there's heaps of people here who know tons more then me about this. I'm just bugged by how the word has changed its meaning
and if you want a wanky cornball REAL R&B discussion, take it to another thread. I'm just here to discuss some good songs, be it modern or old, whatever.

jay-z's 'roc boys' is great. i am such a sucker for a good horn section.
awesome!
Just gotten into Northern State, all girl geek rap group.
They do a cameo on Bird in the Hand with Har Mar Superstar...they have cute valley girl accents and ugly merchandise!
Ah yeah, this thread!
Erykah Badu - Honey
ok, maybe it's not all that commercial around these parts, but it's still good!
Lil Mama - G-Slide
Someone plz tell me I ♥ or despise this song. Lil Jon, David Banner and Pendulum trapped in Satan’s anus with he Amen bassline program couldn’t come up with a more fuller or evil sounding bass sound, but the children’s music thing is played out as all hell. Someone hit me up with a screwed and chopped version orready.
will.i.am - I Got It From My Mama
OK I know this is pure cack, but for some reason I like it. I think the effing clip did it. Ugly like her mama.... jeez.....
oh shit i gotta listen to that lil mama track
i LOVED lipgloss
Well click it bitch.
(You're home on a Satday night- I think you can stop d/ling bukkake for 4 minutes dewd!)
hey 6er and others... any new jamz? Estelle vs Kanye is an obvious one. Will get tired supa quick though...
i'm out of the looop in new R&B, delving into old stuff again. where's le snak when you need him!
Go Getta - Young Jeezy feat. R. Kelly
OK prolly doesn't count; is Hip-hop feat. RnB not the other way around, but thunked I'd reccommend it as I'm on a Jeezy tip.
Hey that was in 'Sex and The City 2' right?
late replies rule
Indeed they do.
''Dope Girl'' - Brooke Valentine featuring Pimp C I thought I had already posted this, but I guess not (unless it got eaten in the fold). An awesome chunk of Crunk-N-B that killed her career when it should've been a runaway hit. The rather young and most very fetching Brooke Valentine gets gnarled southern stallwart Pimp C (R.I.P.) to play foil to her icy cooed come-ons by doing what he does best; make being a career criminal sound cool by sneering his lines the way a 1972 Cadillac smears a dead cat's intestines cross an interstate. But even so it's her show and dang if she doesn't know; 'want it, want it, want it.'
Enjoy!
Mary J. Blige - Why? ft. Rick Ross
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQdP9j5pdok&list=UUQ-ttSCwBiGhgM5GLY1hzWA&index=1&feature=plcp
Rick Ross ruined it.
anyone heard OG melody? they're not mainstream, but their sound is pretty smooth and aaliyah-esque at times, especially cave-in.
New Jeremih song is stunning! The-Dream sort of vibe, but more spacious and Jeremih's vocals are impeccable.
''773 Love''
