well, the 3 year old record with 2 new tracks marketed as a new record.
but yeah, its a good one :)
The utter worst of what passes for 'indie' and 'pop' right now.
have you heard the album chris, or just the singles?
theres great pop songs there once you get past cobrastyle and konichawa bitches.
as a matter of fact, i prefer them over the singles.
nah... i've just been utterly annoyed by konichawa bitches. some of the other stuff on her myspace is pretty damn cool but that one track is just so ugly
hahah i only heard the whole thing this week
she's still releasing singles off it!
i used to listen to 'be mine' on repeat. will czech the newy.
chris you do realize you can just plain old ''not like something'' without it becoming the most horrid abomination mankind has ever witnessed that will surely bring about the end of civilization (or at least good natured indie pop) as we know it, right?
Yeah, but this is beyond that - the entire tone of the song - the lyrics - the image - everything about Robyn is designed to be offputting and alientating, and its embrace by the indie community is a sign of ugliness
though i kinda see how she's trying to ape Andy Warhol
more talk on robyn in this thread
check out ''with every heartbeat'' then anok. similar type of thing
she comes across as one hellishly jealous bitter lady oftentimes. hahahaa

is this the same robyn who writes fun silly dancy pop songs?
chill the fuck out, brimstone.
wow, and here's me thinking it was just a fun silly pop song
mmmm schnapps!
isn't she taking the piss? in the interview with her on triple j last month, she said her and her songwriting partner were trying to come up with as many outrageous statements in the hip-hop I'm-the-best-you-all-suck style as they could
yeah i found the record through be mine, and got a copy a while back.
should probably still buy one now its out locally.
hahaha!
brillliant, shunt.
stolen from my other post on the other thread..
1997 robyn on youtube
another 1997 robyn on youtube!
Yup, mrslooch. Apparently she was listening to Run DMC and it got her thinking about rap boast tracks so she wrote the lyrics for an extra dumb one. Gotta love the Wu-Tang reference in the title.
the ending of that song still makes me LOL every time
rap boast, that's the one nacty

I love that song to PG. Here's another one of my favourite tracks of hers
Robyn - Cobrastyle
Thanks scuz!
Call Your Girlfriend on SNL was pretty great

i know it's heavy on backing track and all, but it's still an amazing performance!
Yeah, I watched that too. Her voice doesn't seem as strong but I get the impression it's just because she can't stay still! Someone needs to have a quiet word with her about her outfit though.
god she's awesome.
Touring later this year apparently!
I have long had no idea why people are cracking a fat over robyn
probably won't be as good as that show at roxanne parlour many moons ago.
She's the Swedish Catcall.
does anyone have any thoughts on marina? (she has a thread but it's quite brief and dead, didn't want to resurrect for nothing.)
I've seen her four times and she's killed it every one. they were all several to many moons ago, but she's got the entire Body Talk series of material to play for us now.
(Okay, probably not including the Snoop duet.)
c'mon. catcall ain't got nothin on this lady. robyn is a star.
she does a modified version of that song live.
You mean that one where she mimed the whole set?
She had two drummers, Kleerup on keys and guitar, and one microphone. Just because everything not played by those four was on tracks doesn't make all the actual singing and playing irrelevant.
ppl just hate backing tracks. especially if they feature vox. even if they're backing vocals.
god i wish i'd seen her live.
i remember going to that abysmal v-festival in melbourne in 2008, mainly to see smashing pumpkins and air. robyn and duran duran ended up being the highlight. 'with every heart beat' live is a true lighters in the air moment. pissed i missed roisin murphy and jesus + mary chain though. not a bad lineup that year really.
Did glass candy+ radio dept. come that year too?
no idea who the hell they are. i just remember the bands i saw and the pumpkins being particularly awful so i left early and got drunk at spencer street station.
robyn looks like a female orc, albiet a sort of sexy one.
I am cracking a major fat over Robyn. I'm way late to this party but I fucking LOVE HER.
