Regular John

What a sweet sweet dang awesome sydney band. I saw them 3 months for ago for the first time in about a year and HAWT DAMN had they improved a lot.
I've caught about 4 of their shows in the last 2 months. Definately one of the only 'hard rock' bands in sydney worth listening to. They put all the pretenders to shame
(apologies chrissi hynde)

And they finally have myspaz songs online
WOOT

Any fans?

And they have the best "Sounds Like" bit on a myspace too:

you know when you're driving through the desert in your army tank and your too tired to know if your running over rattlesnakes or people?

friday SMH metro - (under the dinosaur jnr Beyond CD review)
Marrickville 2204, Erik Jensen.

"this is the sound of inner-city angst. All the bored aggression of a childhood in Griffith is fed through a catalogue of mail -order Fugazi records and comes to a head in the front room of a Marrickville rental. It's punk. It's direct. And it makes no attempt at being anything else"

willus  said about 6 years ago:

Regular john...punk?

Ha, not quite. God the SMH is becoming more and more like the Telegraph every day. Actually I struggle to tell the difference these days. Australia truly is becoming homogenised.

Having said that, Regular John are a great rock band. But there's not a punk thing about em! Nice guys too...

seamonkeydisco  said about 6 years ago:

total punks

whale  said about 5 years ago:

i saw them just then, they were fairly entertaining.

je_me_demande  said about 2 years ago:

Anyone know why their singer/guitarist Brock isn't in the band anymore?

I see they're playing Big Day Out and he's no longer there, with the other guitarist singing now.

Wonder what happened? Great band.

Saw them last night at the lansdown with whipped cream chargers and kill city creeps (fucking excellent new band fronted by dan from dolly rocker movement. Must stress how into this band I am) anyway, RJ- Old singers gone, new guitarist too. It was cool. I liked that first EP, the album was bit to fist in the air anthemic foo fightersesque for my taste, but last night had way more of a comets on fire psych / prog shred vibe to it. I love it when bands start good, get crap, get good again .

mule  said about 9 months ago:

slume just posted their new song of their upcoming record. gonna be a good record methinks.

MattuS  said about 9 months ago:

Have had the pleasure of hearing a few tasty snippets of the album, genuinely fucking excited about it!

Captain Oblivious  said about 7 months ago:

Wow...totally digging the new song.

lolsmith  said about 7 months ago:

Slume is fuckin' good man.

Captain Oblivious  said about 7 months ago:

Yeah, it's pretty epic.

Is the rest of the album in this vibe, or do they slip back into duderockism?

mule  said about 7 months ago:

It's a pretty diverse record, quite good indeed.

joeboy  said about 7 months ago:

So when is this out?

Still haven't heard anything more than slume, but it's enough for me to need to hear the rest.
