OK, So I want some badass mexican food, tacos and stuff. preferably good vegetarian menu, preferably not greasy rotten shit. anyone got some tips?

and dont say taco bill plz.
That one down in St Kilda, Blue Corn I think, it pretty decent. Lots of beans and bits and pieces in everything.
blue corn is awesome, but a bit on the pricey side.
los amates came highly recommended, but i wasn't a fan.
montezumas is ok for cheap foods and loads of it, plus theirsangria is quite awesome.
There's a new mex restaurant opening soon on Lygon St where Cafe Banter is/was. I'm hoping it'll be good, cos it's so close to my house!
blue corn is good.
bit of a quick search here
Coyote Cafe on Nicholson street (Nth Fitz) is apparently ok... and Los Amates and Blue Corn ae good... but yeah, its hard to find sensational mexican... Mexicali Rose in Richmond is semi-decent.
I don't mind Amigos in Chapel Street - isn't there a good mexican restaurant in Toorak road too?
Mexicali rose is good. I know the owner, he used to have a Mexican food store on Bridge Road, and had lots of Mexican friends. I miss that shop.
blue corn
what about that one in clifton hill?any good?they iave free tequila nights
Is Amigo's in South Yarra any good?

but thanks! ill check these out!
Modi: you know Zac / family?
Can't beat the nachos pizza from Umago on B'St...
Zac doesn't ring a bell. I'm trying to remember the dude's name...
Not like we're best buddies. I only know him from when he worked in the shop, and I'd go in and talk chillies with him.
there's also a yum mexican restaurant in fairfield just near the train station
finally Perth has a food advantage over Melbourne. http://www.thatlittlemexicanplace.com.au/
yeah yeah I am sure the coffee is shit....
i found that place a bit crappy actually - something about the choice of vegetables perhaps? not too bad, but y'know, not great in my mind!
Modi: Ahh, okay. Zac is the son of the owner.. . I used to talk to him on IRC when I was just a teen...
los amates looks awes!
"Anyway we really hope you’ll enjoy our food and tell all your friends; we have to pay the rent soon and have to get some relatives out of jail in Colombia.
We hope you enjoy our food and service.
Arturo & Staff"
hahah awesome.

Yeah, it is over-rated and over-priced.
I've come to the conclusion that DIY is the best way to go.
agreed. especially with an assortment of byron bay salsas piled on top.
I did a slow roasted shoulder of pork recently. Cooked for nine hours and served it up with some corn tortillas and a pineapple salsa. Was better than any mexican I've had in melbs.
sell it out of a truck
what's that other new mexican truck floating around?
god i'm hungry right now.
dos diablos cantina?
Probably more interesting combos then taco truck from the time i had it.
If you're thinking about Zambrero in Chapel Street, forget it and walk the block and a half to Mad Mex.
Chingon has a truck as well
Went to Acland Cantina last week, was ok but not wow, pretty pricey as well
Trying Fonda's Chapel Street location tonight.
theres a new one in curtin house. mesa verde or something. pretty impressive tequila bar (not in same league as Mamasita though). food pretty good too. the walk up the stairs gets you in the mood for a drink too.
Fonda...
ha!
I ride past Los Hermanos Mexican Taqueria. Should i go? Has anyone tried the cactus salad? I have never had one.
I liked Los Hermanos.
it's nice there. warm staff. not cheap, but the veg options are tasty. you'll probably need to fork out on a few $6 or $7 things to satisfy (though i'm a guts). i liked the cactus salad. the zucchini sopes (i think) are really good.
I like to think of myself as a 'food bag'. I will check it out. Thanks.
There's not so much (if any?) share stuff so it's as many ~$6 tacos as you need, basically. recommend the lamb and the fish.
they have a few other options than they used to, outside of tacos... maybe like 4 different things with several flavour varieties within those things?
but, yeah... nothing big enough to share really.
