Great work!

That there is Van Rudd, drummer of overlooked Melbourne band seconds . . . looks like we broke up about 18 months too early . . .

How funny. I was borrowing videos from Kevin Rudd's nephew! Touched by fame! Almost.

BADALEX  said about 6 years ago:

Oh look.

Stencil art.

My, how novel and avant garde.

sum1  said about 6 years ago:

Six degrees and all that. We is 2 away from the leader of the world.

aloha  said about 6 years ago:

looks like banksy.

sum1  said about 6 years ago:

Oh yeah, hi BA. Something useful to say as always. BTW you'll probably find it's not a stencil, knowing Van.

babysteps  said about 6 years ago:

is banksy

charlesincharge  said about 6 years ago:

so what did he actually do that was original??? looks like a fucking ripoff.

sum1  said about 6 years ago:

I doubt he ripped it.

babysteps  said about 6 years ago:

or a 'homage' charles

BADALEX  said about 6 years ago:

Oh hai sum1. Luks like I is in teh know.

As per usual cockneck.

Never step to me on art, comics, science, ancient history, comparative religion, modern history or asia.

Feel free with music, sporting trivia, fashion, popular modern books, and general knobwrenchery.

DOWN WITH INTERTEXTUALITY!

sum1  said about 6 years ago:

Dude, he probably wouldn't even know who Banksy is. And I'm fairly sure he's painted it in that style as opposed to using a stencil. He'll probably be devastated to find out about the Banksy piece. I've known him for a long time it would be extremely surprising if he'd done a conscious rip-off.

And really, BA, no need to be calling me a cockneck. Your whole schtick is so frickin tired.

mrsdevere  said about 6 years ago:

Well, I personally think it's lovely... and so is Van!

BADALEX  said about 6 years ago:

sum1 Dude, he probably wouldn't even know who Banksy is.

Sure. Because he lives in a cave. On mars. With his fingers in his ears. And his hands over his eyes.

Oh wait.

You were joking me.

Nice.

Oh yes, like I said to the guy that picked a fight with me last friday ''You might be tired. I'm not. I can keep this up allllllll night.'' Poor little knobwrench...

Anyway.

There's no schtick, you fucking dick.

Get it?

SLAMMED.

fuck it was nice while you were away, horsie.

Violet  said about 6 years ago:

Exactly.

This guy has an extensive history and tertiary education in fine art. No artist who is not a complete and total moron COPIES something thinking it will go on show and no one will notice.

He knew exactly what he was doing in referencing that image.

aloha  said about 6 years ago:

the thread that keeps giving.

BADALEX  said about 6 years ago:

Refined?

He did a crap job. The painting is unispired and shit. Fucking hell, I did better in year nine for fuck's sake!

Fucking wonder woman's sacred knickers, you stupid shits are too stupid to see it, but people like YOU are the reason why art is going to the fucking dogs..

Dumb arse cunts.

Get some fucking culture.

Read a fucking book.

Stupid pricks.

Gorn  said about 6 years ago:

The monk is a reference to a Vietnamese guy apparently. I dont get the other shit.

Buddhist Monks burning themselves in protest of the South Vietnamese Ngo Dinh Diem dictatorship in 1963... surely you've seen the Rage Against the Machine cover...

adamdmills  said about 6 years ago:

homage, rip-off, whatever.

the fact remains that it's a shit painting.

BADALEX  said about 6 years ago:

Exactly.

It's a bit fucking crap. Which is why so many people are tripping over their cock lapping culture to say how fucking great it is.

Fucking nouveau coutre bourgeois cunts...

has anybody made the connection yet between the Chinese Government and the Nazis, who introduced the whole torch relay idea in the first place?

basil seal  said about 6 years ago:

has anybody made the connection yet between the Chinese Government and the Nazis, who introduced the whole torch relay idea in the first place?

nope. probably because it's a shit analogy ben.

Ben  said about 6 years ago:

The whole 'rippin of banksy' argument is lame and not really the issue here.

The issue is that this art is upsetting to the Chinese.
Isnt it?

Of coarse it is

charlesincharge  said about 6 years ago:

Nah. I think people just see it as needlessly provocative and exceptionally unoriginal. It is like trying to tell someone about the Mighty Boosh now.

I'VE ALREADY FUCKING HEARD OF IT.

basil seal  said about 6 years ago:

The issue is that this art is upsetting to the Chinese.

but drawing an analogy to the nazis means you lose.

and if we extend your argument, and apply it to the bill henson situation, half of the country are nazis.

Ben  said about 6 years ago:

Ha Basil...

The art is, everyone is talking about it. it's good art. End of story.

annehelena  said about 6 years ago:

I don't see what Goodwin's law has to do with this, basil... it's not an unfounded statement - the torch relay was first introduced in 1936 for the Berlin Olympics, under Nazi rule.

basil seal  said about 6 years ago:

true annaH, but there's been 72/4=26 olympics since 1936. should we compare each host to the nazis. if so the comparison's rather meaningless.

The art is, everyone is talking about it. it's good art. End of story.

concur. get people talkin'
