the melbourne show was up on ticketmaster last night - goes on sale 12/6, $93.40... ouchies.
supported by regurgitator and eddy current suppression ring in sydney/melb, which is awesome
nice that they're playing the Hordern - same as they did in 1980. doubt I'll bother, though....
does anyone remember the local 'tribute band', DAVO? Played with the Celibate Rifles at their annual xmas show one year, I remember there being lots of footy references.
$93.30 - yikes !!
Somehow, DEVO have not aged well enough to pull this off. In 1980, I loved them because of their wacky plant pot hats. Nearly thirty years later, this is not enough to make me fork over that amount of money. And whose idea was it to book them for Splendour? Surely the weakest lineup for years... Heavily dominated by shit bands.
There are some great songs to go with those hats.
where are they playing in melbourne?
oh, i didn't realise it was going to cost that much.
please retract my post in the eddy current thread. as if they aren't getting paid enough to play at fucking splendour.
I saw them last year
Tickets were £35, which the most I'd ever paid for a non-arena show
Sadly it wasn't worth it for me
Just made me wish i'd seen them first time around
Do you think? I saw them last night and it was one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Mind you, it wasn't their ''wacky pot plant hats'' that was making me love it. It sounded amazing.
But I wasn't old enough to have seen them in 1982, so I have nothing to compare it to except for the records.
I saw Davo at Newtown RSL, meatloaf. They were very funny.
hordern show was later than 1980. was on 'new traditionalists' tour. beginning of the slide creatively for them. amazing visual show!
It was February 1982

New Traditionalists was their last great album
I was soooo looking forward to seeing them at Primavera to undo the memories of last year
Shame I had to cancel that trip
They really were excellent, HEB. Super-excellent. Sounds stupid, but they actually looked younger a couple of days ago than in those photos. I was surprised by their energy.
I'd love to see them but can' justify paying that much...which is unfortunate. I've got a video of them at Lollapalooza sometime in the 90s and they are still awesome.
$93.40: Jesus Christ.
...and just like the Iron Maiden tour, I won't be arriving until after the supports. Fucking horrible choices.
That DVD of the Lollapalooza performance from 1996 is brilliant, agreed. They are playing in the sun directly before Metallica, and make a couple of beautifully snide comments re: de-evolution and Metallica's audience. ''De-evolution is real! Just look around!'' etc.
i liked them better when they dressed up in skateboard helmets and knee pads
as much as i would love to catch this i don't know if it's going to happen. damn.
What would you have suggested? Very tough band to find a suitable support for.
too expensive. bloody monogloids.
who is supporting? i can't open the fold today.
aah no fold.

That Palais gig with The Church would be pretty rad.
all the info
Sirromet Wines! unreal
$100 - $200 + for Melbourne show at Palais, yikes.
Anyone else just get tickets?
Haven't yet; not so sure about seeing them at a stuffy venue like the Palais. Anybody know if there are seperate shows without Simple Minds and the Church?
rumour has it their doing a secret show at the hi-fi
they did one at spectrum last time they were out i believe
I think I'd rather hold out for that then. How can you sit down at watch DEVO FFS? Really needs to be enjoyed drunk and spazzing out.
I'm seeing em' in Sydney
At least the Palais is a little smaller than the cavernous effin' Sydney Ent Cent...I loved seeing Devo last time at the Hordern (got so smashed that I almost missed a flight to NZ the next morning) but I'm stuffed if I'm handing over a couple of hundred bucks to see them there.
What are Simple Minds playing? Is it a whole-career set or is it what they've been doing in the UK, playing all early stuff up to New Gold Dream? I still like those early albums but not enough to see them at the Ent Cent.

lol at snippet backstage at the end of the doco trailer ''it sucked!'' going to sirromet radiotron?
So if anyone can help me out with two tix for Melbourne that would be awesome. Thanks!
Does this sound more like TISM than DEVO?
The story behind the song
woo im going to the perth show
Saw Devo play with Blondie the other note in San Francisco for $60. Decent bill for that price. They actually sounded and look better now than they did on their reformation tour 4/5 years ago. Blondie were passable. DH looks like a coked up alien, and I don't care much for their lead guitarist who just Eddie van halens over everything. Lots of hot chicks in the crowd
Though.
Devo has been delayed at the Day On The Green show due to medical emergency of a band member???????
yeah, apparently a 'panic attack'?!
does DAVO the Oz Devo tribute act actually exist or is this urban legend?
