black wasp!  said about 4 years ago:

That's a bad strategy because it creates extra work for the person who has to empty and subsequently collect data from the suggestion box.

Yeah I just posted about that. Too many chats on here without better things to do, eh electricsound...

I was reading this site well before logging into it, some of the chats here deliver the goods and promote awesome bands, but it seems the majority of the articles about new music from the editors are just rubbish. Reads like they're more concerned with making a new hot topic thread for the trolls than actually reporting on new music.

flukazoid  said about 7 months ago:

On signups - I'm still in favour of having a probationary period after creating an account - no new threads for a week, no image posts for two weeks, user-driven reporting of content, and a moderator's workflow. It's not that hard to build when you've got the rules defined, and it feels like this platform (on the discussion forum side anyway - I know the CMS isn't so great) is better than most alternatives in terms of all of its other functionality.

On content - I don't get what's wrong with what's being posted? They're just not covering a lot of the stuff that already gets widespread attention... which isn't a problem in my books. I do feel like the news reporting has fallen a little behind, and FL seems to be getting most of the scoops at the moment - but then again, they covered our newest gig before I'd even had a chance to send the presser... so...

If I was going to express any preference, it'd be for more content, but not necessarily a change in its focus. But maybe I've just become an old fogey

Dave Doom  said about 7 months ago:

Great ideas for sign ups!

It seems to me that I'm always reading about the same bands/artists or at least acts from the same scene/style of music.

For example, why is there no coverage of the massive amount of grimcore happening in Melbourne. The influence is obvious in many genres with heaps of bands quoting bleak and grim as an influence. Get's talked about and promoted on here by chats, but get's ignored by ed... ?

Captain Oblivious  said about 7 months ago:

Settle petal.

Dave Doom  said about 7 months ago:

This is an offensive question?

JRB  said about 7 months ago:

grimcore

DAFSFFS

Dave Doom  said about 7 months ago:

Even if that was related to the conversation in any way it would still prove my point. Started by a chat, chat.

King_Rat  said about 7 months ago:

So just read things posted by users rather than the editor. What difference does it make?

Captain Oblivious  said about 7 months ago:

This is an offensive question?

No, just the attitude.

Dave Doom  said about 7 months ago:

I do KR, that's what I've been saying. But as CO points out, it's not looked kindly upon to not blindly follow the mass.

Captain Oblivious  said about 7 months ago:

Shit-canning site editorial and making a dick out of yourself on the boards is not the same thing as ''blindly following the masses''.

Dave Doom  said about 7 months ago:

Seriously mang... Making a dick of myself? Why, because I say what I think and you don't like it?

Fuck man, think for yourself.

Dave Doom  said about 7 months ago:

Also please note above the other people on here spouting the same as me. Changes are needed up in this place, it's not growing, it doesn't cater for new trends and it serves to alienate anyone that isn't in the coffee club. This is fact, not being an arse, just being honest.

carwashhair  said about 7 months ago:

why so intent on flogging a dead horse, Dave?

Captain Oblivious  said about 7 months ago:

Nah man, you're just carrying on like a dick. That's all.

But I really give a fuck about it, so you know, carry on tiger...

Dave Doom  said about 7 months ago:

It's funny, this has happened a few times today.

When I reply to a comment, it is just that, a reply. Usually this is the way conversations progress.

But it seems the natural response of the natives is to be holier than thou, when it was YOU who initiated.

So in answer carwashhair I'm not flogging anything, I'm engaging on the level at which I am received.

The_Tupelo_Flash  said about 7 months ago:
