anyone know anything about them??

silvertone  said about 6 years ago:

yeah, Darren now plays mostly in the Tyde, who just released their 3rd album recorded by Rob Campanella from the BJM. Beachwood haven't officially broken up and apparently may play/record again...

Beachwood Sparks were amazing as as almost all of there spin-off projects.

Chris Gunst has made two awesome records with his wife Jennifer who was in the aislers set http://myspace.com/mysticchordsofmemory

Darren Rademaker is the leader of Frausdots (http://myspace.com/frausdots) and was until recently playing bass in his brothers band The Tyde (http://myspace.com/thetyde)

Dave Scher made one of the greatest albums ever - spirit stereo frequency by All Night Radio. However the band split after this one record due to girlfriend/manager issues and now Dave plays pedal steel in Jenny Lewis' band

the Nobody & Mystic Chords of Memory album from this year is awesome.

hiponion  said about 6 years ago:

beautiful.

and all their sideprojects are excellent too.

I got all those side record stuff but I keep coming back to the sparks.

Was it only the three things they had?

Dave Scher plays keys for Interpol now. Some friends and I met him after their Sydney show recently. lovely guy. Crazy though. I was impressed a lot more by him than I was with Interpol.

I'm currently hunting down all of their singles. Just got 'By Your Side' from Amazon.

Fuck, I love this band.

Their 'how to make the cowboy robots cry' ep (or whatever it was called) is terrific.

Oh man - that first album. Just the best cosmic country fried pop rocks. So much coolness. I went to LA to do some research on me book back in 2000 and I was staying with this guy who I sort of knew a bit and he said, ''Oh, my buddy will drive you to the airport if you like'' and by the time I got to LAX, I'd figured out that it was Dave Scher! I said, ''Oh my god - you're in Beachwood Sparks.'' He was pretty chuffed that some bozo from Australia knew who he was and had the first album.

Fielding Mellish  said about 5 years ago:

I saw BS in LA back in '01. There were 10 People there. It was fucking Awesome. Without Save Scher, its not really Beechwood Sparks I think. He kind of puts it all together. He's the music guy. I'll still 'em though

Great band. I also had the fortune of seeing them at in San Francisco at Great American Music Hall a while back.

Here are some vids:

I love this band. When I was living in the UK and doing some freelance for Rough Trade they picked these guys up so I got to see them a few times. Really special live. Strangely I didn't know about their self titled second album until now so I'll definitely have to check that out. Their cover of ''By Your Side'' from the first album is just stunning.

The Tyde are great at what they do too. Not quite as engaging but great summer music.

the self-titled album was their first.

I love that 'By Your Side' cover. I love the Sade original too, though.

That's great Peej! You're really 'kicking goals' at the moment!

Fielding Mellish  said about 3 years ago:

I Love Farmer Dave.

His album is awesome and really funny too. The artwork is really tacky. Good shit.
