i read this book when i was about ten which i've been trying to remember the name of. it's about this kid who goes on the run and into hiding in the english countryside. he runs around some farms, stealing eggs and dodging the irate farmers. it has a white cover with a profile pic of the kid, and a cheetah. i think the cheetah figures in the story somehow.
it's weird 'cos later on, in high school i was thinking about that book and just then i saw the spine of it, picked it out and thought, ''i've gotta remember the name of this''. which of course i never did.
does anyone have any idea what book i'm talking about?

Superfudge
favourites thread
Sounds like a Ramps song.
It sounds good.
What vintage?
There was a book reading on late night ABC radio circa 1996 about birds. The birds flew around, built nests, talked to each other, and lived lives remarkably like humans. Unrealistic I know. Any ideas?
Watership Down II ?
yeah good thread.
there was a book about these things like wombles they lived underrground and were fighting some just war of survival. god it's so long ago I read it. 1980? they aint wombles though some sort of underground living creature. any ideas?
i would've read it in 1982. probably 20 years old by then. it was so good.
Duncton Wood, dodger, they are moles. Stupid series.
ahh! it was too thanks. I only ever read the first book.
Ae you a pom Modi?
You have decidedly English tastes I've noticed.
No, and no. Did I not just say it was a shit book?
was there a badger in it?
and are you sure you are not confusing the cheetah with this bloke?
i think there's a cheetah in the jungle book.
sure it wasn't the jungle book?
Actually that may have been a panther or a jaguar.
oh no wait stealing chickens you say?
Thats ''Fantastic mr Fox'' by Roald Dahl.
Good book. good choice rigid.
my favorite book as a kid was about a boy who got a caterpillar D10 bulldozer for his birthday
i cant remember the title.
hang on there was a badger in it. is this the correct book?
Bugsy,
does this thread say '' what's your favourite books that you can't remember the names of?''
No i didn't think so. This thread is about helping rigid work out what book HE read.
This isn't the time or the place to indulge yourself.

Dorothy McGuire
How did you find it, ___v? You went out looking every weekend didn't you?
Don't disturb him. Hes trying to identify my book.
it isn't often that someone gets a chance to really make a difference
Make two differences. Aim high. Find the book about the motorbike and the pseudo witch sex.
How is your search for toadphoney's book going, __v? It is high on my reading list.
I think it's Hobo Toad and the Motorcycle Gang. Toadphoney must have been in the advanced reading class.
Bobordick.
Anyone with a copy of Bottersnikes and Gumbles they'd care to part with?
I actually have a boxed set of all three books. I'll never part with it, sorry. I re-read them a couple of years ago, shit holds up.
Its not hobotoad.
Holy fuck. I've bed. Trying to remember the name of that book for over a decade.
Also, there was a children's picture book featuring two frogs whose pond home gets turned into a dump due to retarded humans. Anyone know of it? I think the name of it was the name of the two frog characters. This was 24 years ago that I read it, but surely someone knows of it.
As soon as I hit post, it came to me. And I've been trying to remember this book for years and years.
Also, in the post above its meant to say 'I've been trying', not 'I've bed. Trying', which makes no sense.
Phones etc.
Fond memories of Bottersnikes, Gumbles, Lester and Clyde, and... Dr A.A.A. McGurk!
I got that in the Ashton-Scholastic Book Club in grade two or three. Pivotal stuff for a young lad.
Farkin' oath. How great was it to have to find a HOOK on every page? Kids of today are fucked.
Nice one. Just checked on ebay and starting price around $50 a piece. So out of the three, which one holds up best? Botteersnikes and Gumbles, Gumbles in Trouble or Gumbles on Guard?
did anyone else read this?
