what book was this?

rigid  said about 3 years ago  or at  3:59PM on Thursday, June 4 2009 in books

i read this book when i was about ten which i've been trying to remember the name of. it's about this kid who goes on the run and into hiding in the english countryside. he runs around some farms, stealing eggs and dodging the irate farmers. it has a white cover with a profile pic of the kid, and a cheetah. i think the cheetah figures in the story somehow.

it's weird 'cos later on, in high school i was thinking about that book and just then i saw the spine of it, picked it out and thought, ''i've gotta remember the name of this''. which of course i never did.

does anyone have any idea what book i'm talking about?

There was a book reading on late night ABC radio circa 1996 about birds. The birds flew around, built nests, talked to each other, and lived lives remarkably like humans. Unrealistic I know. Any ideas?

KevinArnold  said about 3 years ago:

Actually that may have been a panther or a jaguar.

KevinArnold  said about 3 years ago:

i cant remember the title.

dodger  said about 3 years ago:

KevinArnold  said about 3 years ago:

Bugsy,

does this thread say '' what's your favourite books that you can't remember the names of?''

No i didn't think so. This thread is about helping rigid work out what book HE read.

This isn't the time or the place to indulge yourself.

Make two differences. Aim high. Find the book about the motorbike and the pseudo witch sex.

How is your search for toadphoney's book going, __v? It is high on my reading list.

I think it's Hobo Toad and the Motorcycle Gang. Toadphoney must have been in the advanced reading class.

Anyone with a copy of Bottersnikes and Gumbles they'd care to part with?

rigid  said about 1 year ago:

I actually have a boxed set of all three books. I'll never part with it, sorry. I re-read them a couple of years ago, shit holds up.

Holy fuck. I've bed. Trying to remember the name of that book for over a decade.

Also, there was a children's picture book featuring two frogs whose pond home gets turned into a dump due to retarded humans. Anyone know of it? I think the name of it was the name of the two frog characters. This was 24 years ago that I read it, but surely someone knows of it.

tigers  said about 1 year ago:

As soon as I hit post, it came to me. And I've been trying to remember this book for years and years.

tigers  said about 1 year ago:

Also, in the post above its meant to say 'I've been trying', not 'I've bed. Trying', which makes no sense.
Phones etc.

Farkin' oath. How great was it to have to find a HOOK on every page? Kids of today are fucked.

Nice one. Just checked on ebay and starting price around $50 a piece. So out of the three, which one holds up best? Botteersnikes and Gumbles, Gumbles in Trouble or Gumbles on Guard?
