because, let's be honest, dance music is repetitive and we still love it.

The old thread was massive.
fold arms, leans against wall but DOES tap foot
yay! OLD THREAD... a place where too many great posts got eaten up.
oh crap! that reminds me. should've started with a question. so, lovely chats,
What's the last dancey CD you brought?
cd? hmmm. probably the milky disco 2 comp. i've been 10:1 vinyl to cd in the last few months.
I think the last thing was Tiga's last album.
I brought Markus Guentner to my car.
yep, CD. want to be more inclusive. selling out. this thread's not just for the hardcore vinyl junkies. my last CD would be Luke Vibert's other dnb project, Amen Andrews.
aw dammit. look, peace, love, unity, respect, everyone's welcome in this thread. except grammar nazis.
i think maybe rinse vol 3: supa d. (funky house)
nice link tangy to the dnb slang explainations earlier. link.
but then that got me thinking about another one. why do they say ''the man like tangy is rinsing out....''?
OOOzers New Thread... and more time to appreciate.
Oh... For Northcote High Vibes Fest (20 September) good old Sunny Side Up are going to be hosting a dance stage. Shall be grand i say. RIght next to the Northcote Social.
What's the last dancey CD you brought?
Been a while since i've bought a CD. Just been downloading lots of live sets recently.
Going through the Resident Advisor Mixes. I still really love the Four Tet one.
Also been giving this a right old bash thanks to a mate who linked me up. shall hunt for the link if anyone is keen. :)

wierd request
i really really like this kind of dark minimal techno thing.
i know nothing about techno. or minimal. or dark anything
here are two songs i like
matzak - african roots listen here
shackleton - blood on my hands (villalobos remix) listen here
can someone who knows about this sort of stuff school me?
moses give this a try...
Bruno Pronsato - Why Can't We Be Like Us
probably my favourite in this spectre. very immersive listen and totally headsplitting in parts. he's got a new one out too but i've not heard it yet
I don't know, but of all the other Villalobos I've heard (the Fabric album, Vasco) none of it captures the weird atmosphere of that Shackleton remix.
Anyone heard his earlier stuff?
''Dexter'' is by far my favourite Villalobos track, it's from '03. The whole Alcachofa has pretty weird atmosphere. But ''Dexter'' and ''Easy Lee'' in particular. Fucking classic.
The earliest I've heard is ''808 The Bassqueen'' - I really don't like it.
Easy Lee is golden. Villalobos has some straight up stuff, but also some twisted abstracted material as well - the man is a nutter.
The Au Harem D'Archimede is a pretty mind-bending record if you're in the mood.
But yeah even my Dad recognises the far-out genius of ''Easy Lee''.

i've been there for burgers. it's a cool space to eat in. not sure about dance parties.
i'm coming too, btw. let's make the vibe.
great piece on kraviz and the the fall-out from the aforementioned RA mini-doc.
roland tings - live in tornbury - 100% silk
can someone explain brown alley to me? how many diferent rooms/spaces are there in the one building. we saw actress there recently - downstairs access via alley - amazing room, great sound, great experience. then friday night was nina kraviz - kng st access, upstairs. completely different vibe (in part due to the crowd). my previous experience of the place, which was years ago, was nothing like either of these spaces. just wondering if there's a way to know which part of the venue hosting something - i can't find anything of use on the website.
Max Dunbar playing Bamboo Musik 22nd June, yuss!

rollin' (from the same ep) is great too
Hey, as a matter of interest - where do we all buy our records from these days? Ordered a few records online for the first time since getting back to Melbourne in November using Juno UK - $48 for two 12''s and an EP, which I guess is pretty good, although delivery time will be two weeks. Anywhere cheaper/faster for Oz?
Locally, I picked up a few things from Alley Tunes last week and they have a pretty decent selection, depending on what you're looking for. Might take a trip to Bounce Audio this weekend.
Mostly, I'd be looking for up-to-date House/Disco/Electronic 12''s and older Disco/Italo/Post-Punk stuff.
i've eased on purchasing records of late. been spending more on individual tracks on beatport. occasionally gone through juno, but probably more likely to go through a label (ie. purchased the streetwalker LP through minimal wave - you heard that e_e?).
juno used to be much faster.
Yeah, thought as much and will probably just hit up the labels directly when I can. Although, I like to browse through Juno, Boomkat, etc and just pick up stuff as I go as well.
Haven't heard the full SW album but really like what I've heard, as well as earlier stuff, must get onto that. Could go through a lot of $$$ on that Minimal Wave store.
Robert Babicz: I'm in Melbourne, and this is happening.
