I've been listening to this song a lot lately.

Overrated? Underrated? Discuss.

I dont blame the poor dude who put that sign up.

JunkiePhil  said about 3 years ago:

Should have 'Little Wing' on that sign too. ugggh....
Fuck I hate music stores.

I just remembered, on my last day of school I ended up playing this with the headmaster and some other dudes in the final assemlby, off my face on vodka and pot. I was playing bongos.
I was feeling well cool about it all, then it got to the rock out bit and this exchange student who I hated, cause he was heaps better at drums then me and no one wanted me in their band anymore, got on a kit and pounded it home.
I ended up walking out on it.
Stairway Denied

I have to confess that I have a small hobby which invovles going into music stores, picking a resonator off the shelf, tuning it to Spanish and ripping out a slide guitar version of Smoke on the Water. It keeps me amused.

Anyhoo, Stairway. Decent song by a mediocre band that has those perfect lyrics which mean nothing but sound like they mean everything. Loved it when I was a teenager, then I discovered booze and girls.

MEDIOCRE????

fuck i wonder what it takes to be a GOOD band in your eyes

if having John Bonham, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page as the musicians counts as mediocre, i would happily accept mediocrity in your eyes

and i still get an ear boner when it hits the ''and as we wind on down the road'' bit

Stairway hate amuses me. I think it's impossible not to love this song, even if it is overplayed and talked about.

I never liked Stairway To Heaven... even as a teenager learning guitar it didn't appeal.

Dude, it's like, a metaphor, for life

Led Zepplin hate is equally amusing and possibly one of the most telling signs of musical ignorance.
