How To Destroy Angels - New Trent Reznor Project

McGauz  said about 3 years ago  or at  1:15PM on Thursday, April 29 2010 in music news

Trent Reznor has started a new project How To Destroy Angels with his wife Mariqueen Maandig.

Is the name a nod at Coil?

A friend sent me a link that was still circling the rumour pen... but seems Filter have the goss: http://filtermagazine.com/index.php/news/entry/trent_reznor_forms_how_to_destroy_angels_with_wife_mariqueen_maandig/

Since finishing the Wave Goodbye tour with Nine Inch Nails, frontman Trent Reznor has been all but lazy. Alongside wife Mariqueen Maandig, Reznor is set to release a self-titled six-song EP under the name How To Destroy Angels.

Although no tunes have been posted, a 40-second video has appeared and the group has created a website as well as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Youtube, and Vimeo pages. The music from the clip consists of low electronic beats and slightly overdriven tones that raise and lower in pitch. That's all the info that the mastermind Reznor has to offer - for now.

How To Destroy Angels' EP will drop this summer.

A website is already up with a 40 second sample/teaser and it sounds very NIN-ish (obviously).

Looking forward to hearing more! I was hoping on new NIN material this year, but who's to say that won't come along as well?

That doesn't mean what the writer thinks it means

McGauz  said about 3 years ago:

Do tell, bungle...

Goal attack  said about 3 years ago:

Should be anything but? Or maybe trent's been chillin

McGauz  said about 3 years ago:

That's the usual phrase though isn't it? The way the lingo goes... I've heard it a million times. ''All BUT lazy...''. I guess I know what the writer means, even if he's gotten it slightly wrong.

Can't be anything but.

Fucking OUTSTANDING album, that one. Not sure if I felt any accumulation of male energy, but hey.

Those sessions they recorded with him have finally been released, too, as The New Backwards, I think.

The vinyl came out, and although there was meant to be a CD edition, I never saw it. WANT.

FrankieTeardrop  said about 3 years ago:

I hope it's all instrumental. I could listen to that ribbon synth thing all day.

You can buy it at Threshold House. Here.

It was posted in an announcement about the vinyl/CD Ape of Naples which may have been the confusion?

Back to Trent, MORE SYNTH.

an entire album of ribbon synth.... mmmm tasty

Texaco  said about 3 years ago:

I wonder if the wife sings on it?

Mo  said about 3 years ago:

i wonder if he knows, how do you talk to an angel?

i have heard (but unconfirmed) that its like trying to catch a falling star

CaptainFez  said about 3 years ago:

His wife sings in this band. So I suppose it's not QUITE as unexpected. Hasn't stopped NIN fans on youtube calling her Yoko.

Wiki confirms that the band is named after the Coil EP, which would give it a good chance at being more instrumental than vocal, I guess.

Also says there'll be a six-song EP in (the US?) summer this year.

McGauz  said about 3 years ago:

EP in (US) summer, yes. Looking forward to it. Hopefully her singing isn't too... suffocating of the music.

I read the Yoko shouts... hilarious :)

They sell them, also, through Big City Music. I wrote to the dudes who make 'em and they wrote back the next day - very friendly, very chuffed that someone liked the boxes they make.
