Louie

This show that's just started on FX in the States is hilarious. Starring stand up comedian Louis CK portraying a version of himself (similar to Curb in that respect).

It's kind of like if Woody Allen was non-Jewish, tall, red headed, more vulgar and made a TV show. Great shots of New York and fantastic original soundtrack by Reggie Watts

Anyone else watching? Just watched the 5th episode. So great.

Great show!

Also love the ballsiness, almost every episode has an idea aiming for than just funny.

Thought Ricky Gervais' cameo kinda sucked though.

kazpatafta  said about 2 years ago:

Yeah I'm with ya on the Gervais role. Pretty pointless.

Not big on the Seinfeld-esque stand up bits but yeah as a whole it's quite unlike anything I've seen before which is refreshing

goldfoot  said about 2 years ago:

Yeah, I've watched the first 4 episodes. There's something that is annoying me about it though but I can't really work out what it is yet. Like I said in this thread it feels like it's trying too hard to be contoversial.

this show is so good.

normally i'm indifferent to ricky gervais but i thought he was hilarious in episode 3.

astralwerkor  said about 2 years ago:

good shit this.

Interesting that ep 5 took a turn into more surrealist style comedy. I think the writers are still trying to work out what they want the show to be.

orange_blossoms  said about 2 years ago:

Just seen a couple of these myself. Had me crying with laughter in parts, although some scenes with all his friends sitting round a table just jivin' irked me. Too much 'bloke' for me. Loved Gervais!

Overall, fan of this

orange_blossoms  said about 2 years ago:

this is seriously hilarious. check it people

Oh it has! Excellent

slothman  said about 2 years ago:

yes. good show. i've been thinking about the expression ''like a blood and come filled shoe'' for a while now

kazpatafta  said about 2 years ago:

Whenever I'm in a good mood these days I start singing ''And I'm shitting in Hitler's mouth''

slothman  said about 2 years ago:

only got one episode left to watch, sad. that one about the crucifiction was intense.

kazpatafta  said about 2 years ago:

Excellent look at an episode of Louis' previous HBO show that got cancelled and of his work in general.](http://www.avclub.com/articles/lucky-louie-kim-moves-out,53266/)

Loved the newest episode, the first of a three-parter (to finish the season, I think?). His agent is the best.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 8 months ago:

The talk from the CBS boss was intense. Sometimes I wish people would be that straight up with me.

Arthurly  said about 8 months ago:

CBS boss reminded me of Bookman, the library detective from Seinfeld.

mud  said about 8 months ago:

That was Garry Marshall, who helped create modern comedy, and now works fairly studiously at trying to destroy it.

moribunderast  said about 8 months ago:

That trilogy of episodes (just finished today) may just be Louie's masterpiece to date. I think it's the best thing he's done with this show, so far. A lovely and sometimes brutal insight into the entertainment industry. He even managed to make me feel for Jay fucking Leno! Top stuff. At it's best, this show rivals anything else on telly at the moment.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 8 months ago:

oo must d/l new one

slothman  said about 8 months ago:

listen here, champ. that's short for champion.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 8 months ago:

So many people on the AV club whingeing that the Lynch episodes aren't funny. Good lord, they were hilarious.

Clay Davis! Also, Jerry sure did look old and upped the bastard level.

mrmagoo  said about 8 months ago:

i think they were really well done, i don't think it was his masterpiece or anything though, some other episodes of his really stand out more for me. Excellent series again

David Lynch was excellent, 'You just bought yourself another week!'

slothman  said about 8 months ago:

david lynch was fucking perfect. i loved how when we first saw him he was just sitting there stroking his ear.. then resumed doing that after kicking louie out.

mrmagoo  said about 8 months ago:

didn't realise there is an episode left in the series, an hour long finale entitled 'New Year's Eve'

good to see him pick up an Emmy for writing as well

gabbo  said about 8 months ago:

i also loved the credit sequence in the first of the trilogy that just focused on his manager getting ready for a scene. he was able to do so much with so little, which, when you compare it to Louie ham fisted acting at times, just shows you how good actors can be.

Louis as Abe Lincoln on SNL

NiteShok  said about 5 months ago:

The Lincoln bit was awesome but the rest of that episode didn't bring many lols

NiteShok  said about 5 months ago:

Fuck, imagine being in that room while he was filming the Lincoln stand-up. I wonder if he had more material...

tugboat  said about 5 months ago:

The hotel check out thing on SNL was very funny too.

slothman  said about 5 months ago:

and the kiss at the end was creepy/gross

tugboat  said about 5 months ago:

Hahhhahahahhahahhaha.... don't like the Australian Cinema bits though. I'm offended.

Wait! Forgot that I'm AZN

slothman  said about 5 months ago:

that ''look at ya boner.''
''i got that from ya tits.''

bit was pretty funny, but it probably went on a bit long.

tugboat  said about 2 months ago:

Watching Parenthood
with my better half.
Pamela Adlon was in two of the episodes as some angry lady who lives near the recording studio.
