Melbourne Open House

Did a search and didn't find anything on this.

I just heard about this thing going on this weekend where about 100 buildings in Melbourne's city that are usually closed to the public are being open for tours.

It's sunday afternoon and i'm stuck at work so i figure i've missed out.

Does anyone know anything about this/gone to anything?

Super curious about this...

This is on again this weekend. Should finally be going to it this year.

picked up my program the other day, and got into 3 of the invite only tours.

woo.

I'm overwhelmed by how many options there are. So far the only ones I know I wanna go to are the substations and Origin's rooftop garden.

one day down, one day to go, if my legs can carry on.

Origin's rooftop garden.

Origin's rooftop garden isn't amazing. I preferred the rooftop garden at 131 Queen St

They've been pleading for office volunteers the last few weeks.

I could run a fucking amazing tour of the pathology museum. Who wants to talk gangrene?!

Ballot is open for the super popular tours.

moo-core  said about 10 months ago:

I'm thinking of entering the ballot for the behind the scenes Fed Square tour. Anyone done it before? Worth it?

anonymous  said about 10 months ago:

yeah, i have, its pretty nifty, mazes of tunnels.

Did my volunteer induction thingo last night, gonna be fun.

I think the 3 surprise buildings get announced soon.

I entered the ballot for Manchester Unity building (pretty pics).

Interesting story how the guy who runs the dentistry in the building took it upon himself to get all the spaces up to their original splendour. Last year he conducted all the tours himself.

anonymous  said about 10 months ago:

lots more information on that one here: http://www.manchesterunitybuilding.com.au/

I've tried a couple of times with no luck, but you've only got about a 8% chance of making any of the booked tours.

anonymous  said about 10 months ago:

this weekend, yup yup.

3 surprise buildings are so so.

mel_rancid  said about 10 months ago:
