Eh? I'd say Around The Sun by REM sucked. But are they really that great to begin with? Discuss.

Everything Interpol ever did had the suck turned up far too high to be wholly tolerable. Even TOTBL suffers for this.
But as a band, they always had an air of greatness. Go figure.
In Utero - Nirvana
Oasis - oh, wait they are a shit band as well.
Daddy's Home by big daddy kane
Neil Young - Landing On Water

I love that album!!! It's cheezy but the posse cut and Peeps in the PJ's ho-o ho-o. GOLD
planet waves - bob dylan
not a band, but...
Sonic Youth - A Thousand Leaves
You serious?
Everything the Ramones put out after about 1981
Harsh.
Animal Boy, Too Tough to Die, Pleasant Dreams have all got good tracks on 'em. Even Subterranean Jungle isn't too bad really.
Loaded - The Velvet Underground.
I totally agree that there are some good songs on those albums, but I reckon there is also a high proportion of junk. In comparison their first five records (particularly the first 3) are killer.

that's a good album
Loaded - The Velvet Underground.
FUCK you buddy. that's their best album
Peek-a-boo!
terror twilight - pavement
New Order - Waiting For The Siren's Call. What the duck happened there?
Disagree on the Terror Twilight slothman.
another album I love. godrich's production is ace
FYP
I prefer it to CR, CR.
Fugazi – End Hits.
Soz guyz.
Better than The Argument
Soz velodrone
In Utero - Nirvana
Sonic Youth - A Thousand Leaves
Loaded - The Velvet Underground
Fugazi – End Hits
Devo - Oh No It's Devo
These are all good (in the case of SY & VU - great) albums. C'mon guys, surely we can get some consensus going.
E.g
Lou Reed - The Bells
Bob Dylan - Dylan
Neil Young - Lucky Thirteen
Stone Roses - Second Coming
Steady on, buddy.
second Coming by the Stone Roses is a soft target. If it had been their first album, would we be so unforgiving? Also, the single One Love that came in between needs reassessing - fucking awesome piece of work.
the first two interpol albums are great everything else is radiohead ish crap
the last couple of ramones albums are gold I hate how everyone goes on about how crap they are the job that ate my brain is as good as anything on the first couple of albums . Waiting For The Siren's Call is a boring load of shit and Devo did nothing worth while after
new traditionalists :)
No.
Have you heard their other albums? If not, I recommend White Light/White Heat. John Cale played on it and better still, no Doug Yule.
I really like A Thousand Leaves.
The Eternal & Rather Ripped, on the other hand...
Doug Yule rulez!
Of course i have, and for the record, the debut is way better than WL/WH.
Metallica:
*Load & Re-load
*S&M
*St.Anger
Bollocks Bollocks. Second Coming is an awesome, if flawed, record.
Metal Machine Music
Great albums by crap artists would have been so much better.
agree!
I actually like that record.
DAFSFFS
Even Now - Barry Manilow. The Essential Barry Manilow wasn't anything to write home about too.
Trompe Le Monde by The Pixies.
That latest Broken Social Scene one.
The new Elbow might be up there too - needs more listens.
re: elbow -
human touch/lucky town - springsteen. mostly rubbish.
I love Rather Ripped, Second Coming and Terror Twilight!
Maybe I shoulda titled this thread ''Albums By Great Bands That Only I Like''.
You are kidding right. I fucking love that album. I don't think much of NYC Ghosts & Flowers.
