Crap Albums by Great Artists

bigdaddykane  said about 2 years ago  or at  11:35AM on Thursday, March 10 2011 in stupidity

Eh? I'd say Around The Sun by REM sucked. But are they really that great to begin with? Discuss.

max bulk  said about 2 years ago:

Everything Interpol ever did had the suck turned up far too high to be wholly tolerable. Even TOTBL suffers for this.

But as a band, they always had an air of greatness. Go figure.

I love that album!!! It's cheezy but the posse cut and Peeps in the PJ's ho-o ho-o. GOLD

Harsh.

Animal Boy, Too Tough to Die, Pleasant Dreams have all got good tracks on 'em. Even Subterranean Jungle isn't too bad really.

shiroineko  said about 2 years ago:

Loaded - The Velvet Underground.

mongoloid_dave  said about 2 years ago:

I totally agree that there are some good songs on those albums, but I reckon there is also a high proportion of junk. In comparison their first five records (particularly the first 3) are killer.

djbollocks  said about 2 years ago:

In Utero - Nirvana
Sonic Youth - A Thousand Leaves
Loaded - The Velvet Underground
Fugazi – End Hits
Devo - Oh No It's Devo

These are all good (in the case of SY & VU - great) albums. C'mon guys, surely we can get some consensus going.

E.g

Lou Reed - The Bells
Bob Dylan - Dylan
Neil Young - Lucky Thirteen
Stone Roses - Second Coming

labrish  said about 2 years ago:

Steady on, buddy.

Arthurly  said about 2 years ago:

second Coming by the Stone Roses is a soft target. If it had been their first album, would we be so unforgiving? Also, the single One Love that came in between needs reassessing - fucking awesome piece of work.

not-ian  said about 2 years ago:

the first two interpol albums are great everything else is radiohead ish crap
the last couple of ramones albums are gold I hate how everyone goes on about how crap they are the job that ate my brain is as good as anything on the first couple of albums . Waiting For The Siren's Call is a boring load of shit and Devo did nothing worth while after
new traditionalists :)

shiroineko  said about 2 years ago:

No.

Have you heard their other albums? If not, I recommend White Light/White Heat. John Cale played on it and better still, no Doug Yule.

zoothorns  said about 2 years ago:

I really like A Thousand Leaves.

The Eternal & Rather Ripped, on the other hand...

djbollocks  said about 2 years ago:

Doug Yule rulez!

Of course i have, and for the record, the debut is way better than WL/WH.

Bollocks Bollocks. Second Coming is an awesome, if flawed, record.

Great albums by crap artists would have been so much better.

You are kidding right. I fucking love that album. I don't think much of NYC Ghosts & Flowers.
