Melbourne Bar & Bistro is the only place I'll set foot in in the CBD.
yep, that's on the list.
I usually impress visitors by going to the Paris Cat. It's got the ''hidden gem down a dark alley'' vibe that tourists seem to love and for some reason people who don't like jazz always want to go to jazz clubs when they visit foreign cities. Makes them feel all sophisticated or something.
maybe new gold mountain as well?
thanks JRB, Paris Cat on list with Manchester Lane and Bennets.
really need some hipster bars - hidden gems in CBD tho.
99 problems in collingwood ;P
Hell's Kitchen and that Hipster bar Kelele goes?
Manchester Lane ain't open no more. Bennetts is best during the week and watch it 'cause it's a very ''sit down and appreciate this very serious music'' type venue.
Hidden bars? Try the Blue Diamond. Awful crowd but great views from the 15th floor. Go on a Sunday when the Grand Wazoo are playing.
I go to 99 problems, thats my fave bar :)
not in cbd though.
For a minute I was worried there was a bar I didn't know about in the city, then I remembered it's above or close to Double Happiness. Phew, crisis averted.
Melbourne Bar and Bistro: So much fried lard to choose from at the buffet, so little time.
Kelele..there is one at Meyer pl or something that u go to.
take them to The Joint first, then pretty much anywhere will seem cool...
I go to Meyers Place........I do enjoy it, the boys that work there are lovely and really really goddamn cute.
Croft Institute
Siglo
Section 8
Curtain Rooftop
Arthurs
Workshop
Cherry
Spice Market
Biero
International lounge, Sadies and rue bebelons go off.
Oh that new one on the island in the middle of the yarra is a pretty cool location . Name escapes me. Small drink selection though.
ponyfish island.
I recommend Workshop as well. Dont wear a suit though, they won't let you in.
I enjoy horse bazaar on thursdays.
Chez Regine
So ridiculously cheap for what they have, but opening times and days is difficult, so I would suggest contacting them for operating hours.
La Vita Buona
Expensive these days, but still worth it in the warmer months.
RAOB GAB Buffalo Club
Find it if you can, totalz hipstersz place if you can find it from my cryptic link. I'll say no more about it!
Cabinet
It's ok, at least you can get Moretti there.
Lily Blacks
Is ok, if you can put up with a bit of alcho-nerd shit and not being able to get what you exactly want. (Ramazzotti instead of Amaro Lucano, for example).
Most of the other suggestions up-post are fine as well, but it depends what style you want, what piss you want, and what hours you want.
More suggestions if those pique your interest.
Seems official enough now.
woah people- this is great! thanks.
tho still looking for the one that is supposed to have an internal wooden bridge or trees inside.
anyone?
anyone?
Draculas? :-D
New guernica?
HIPSTERRrrrrrr
Sentido Funf, maybe?
l could be way of base but l recall Heb posting something about a great woody-type bar he went too when in Melbs. Real Boyz stuff. can't find post tho.
sunnyboyz it could be New Guernica!
Yep, it's got a bunch of jungle type decorations inside. And I'm sure some kind of indoor bridge thing, I usually go there when well inebriated. There's a thread about it I think.
where? under what disguise?
You get only one guess to get that question right.
shit! ok ok.
I wouold call new guernica a nightclub more than a bar. It really doesnt have a nice chill bar vibe, like all the other venues mentioned here.
hey people thanks for suggestions...some bars also where you can eat would be a change too.
bxck........dxr keep 'em coming.
Rice Queen? Or is that more a restaurant? Not CBD either, I guess. Society? (LOL)... Is Phoenix still there? They have a bit of food. Yak?
Robot is still really good, and now you can get longies of Orion for 12 bucks.
Nihonshu (part of Izakaya Chuji) is pretty good for shochu and umeshu and Japanese single malts, but pretty expensive.
Murmur used to be good outside of suit-hours, but haven't been there for a couple years
Von Haus is nice.. just saw it last night for the first time. Cosy, bookshelves, candle-lit...
decent quietish bar close to flinder st station?
Hell's Kitchen.
riverland.
Robot
Liberty Social Tue-Fri $2.5 pot till 8pm
Also The Journal Cafe.
Phoenix
The Spankers
What is Liberty Social like before the bands? Is it a young person hell hole?
