The Itchiball Prize for Particularly Bad Art...I won that prize... Im bonafide!

http://australiasworstartist.blogspot.com/

This is the painting that won the prize in 2009...

...and because the 2010 ''winner'' was some bloke who found his painting in the op-shop, I am hanging on to the claim still of Australia's Worst Artist...undefeated!

my debut exhibition is gettin organised as we speak...

stay tuned...

Hey Ben.
is this one of your artworks on Iheartchaos?

It looks very similar if not.
Keep up the good work. I love your style.

Ben, as you are clearly self-taught, I was wondering if you had any tips for someone that was keen to paint themselves, but didn't have any noticeable aptitude or the time available to participate in a class?

Where do you buy your materials?
Where do you get your inspiration?
How do you deal with criticism?
Which youtube videos would best aide painting technique?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Ben  said about 8 months ago:

Hi gabbo. thank you for your interest and questions.

I was wondering if you had any tips for someone that was keen to paint themselves?

if you want to paint yourself, firstly get a mirror, or perhaps a photo of yourself. It's very hard to see what your painting otherwise.

Where do you buy your materials?

I buy my materials from op-shops and $2 shops. There's no point being a chimney sweep with the kings clothes on.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I get my inspiration from the world around me.. whatever makes me laugh or whatever I think deserves celebrating or recognising, or if I think that a story is kinda interesting. I enjoy little pleasures.

How do you deal with criticism?

As ''Australia's Worst Artist'', it's pretty hard to get offended with criticism. As will all good headstrong arrogant artists, it's like water off a camels back!
but seriously, everyone is crap, especially to begin with.. and also art is so subjective, millions of people dont like picasso, and Van Gough only sold 1 painting while he was alive... so dont worry what people say. if you reckon your progressing with your art, then your winning.

Which youtube videos would best aide painting technique?

and of course this man is a hero. gunna include him in a painting soon...

hope this helps.

meanwhile, here's a new one I painted from scratch last night after watching the Hawthorn v Adelaide match

Your paintings remind me of your football; unorthodox and full of effort. Both work well.
