Holy crap, I saw the extended trailer for this at IMAX. It looks FUCKING AMAZING! Seriously it's worth buying a ticket to Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol just to see the six minute scene from The Dark Knight Rises that precedes it. I cannot wait to see this film.

ghoti-max  said about 1 year ago:

Batman needs to get laid in this one, otherwise I'm not seeing it.

tugboat  said about 1 year ago:

Hong Kong scenes, yeah?

Saw this tonight at IMAX too. Looks utterly brilliant and I too went to see Ghost Protocol mainly to see this and it was $20 well spent.

tugboat  said about 1 year ago:

So, is that six mins thing a preview?

JRB  said about 1 year ago:

I think it's the first six minutes of the movie, like they did with the bank robbery scene from the last one.

tugboat  said about 1 year ago:

I might wait then ..

djbollocks  said about 1 year ago:

It could well be the first scene JRB, it's certainly very early on in the film. I've been thinking about the hijack scene all week, it really made an impression on me. If the rest of the film is half as good I'll be psyched.

astrousersasmind  said about 1 year ago:

Seconded

hyperfuzz  said about 1 year ago:

saw imax tickets are on sale now if anyone is keen. http://imaxmelbourne.com.au/coming_soon

JRB  said about 1 year ago:

Are IMAX still doing that ...Beings, Dark Knight, ...Rises marathon thing? 'Cause that'd be fucking awesome.

hyperfuzz  said about 1 year ago:

yep, but the Wednesday night (6pm until 2:30am, with the DKR screening at midnight) is almost sold out and it's $75. they're doing it again from 6am on Thursday morning.

BIG feature in this month's empire, pretty good.

GrantleyBuffalo  said about 1 year ago:

After the Prometheus experience, I need to keep my expectations under control for this one. But Nolan has never let me down before; even his high-concept, ''make-no-sense'' spectacles like The Prestige and Inception are never less than thoroughly entertaining and beautifully crafted.

And I loved Batman Begins and Dark Knight.

So if I go in to Dark Knight Rises expecting nothing more than The Greatest Movie Ever Made, I'm sure to be satisfied.

Right?

hyperfuzz  said about 1 year ago:

Chris Nolan has yet to make a bad movie. He does some make some bewildering decisions though. Like getting the ball rolling on the Superman reboot and choosing Zack Snyder to direct.

Speaking of Snyders (who are not blood related); have been reading a few of the more recent Batman comics lately and Scott Snyder's stuff has been awesome. Black Mirror is well worth checking out. Also enjoyed Batman: Year 100 by Paul Pope. Neither of which have anything to do with this story arc (Dick Grayson is Batman in one of them), but are still good if you're in the mood for some Bats.

JRB  said about 1 year ago:

Speaking of Bat Comics, anyone noticed Christian Bale's goatee in the trailer? Who reckons there's be a whole repeat of the rad ''where's your mustache Bruce?'' scene from Dark Knight Returns???

RoastOxCrisps  said about 1 year ago:

Holy crap is this out this month? I AM EXCITED.

hyperfuzz  said about 1 year ago:

next month!

RoastOxCrisps  said about 1 year ago:

I AM LESS EXCITED!

Yeah, that could go either way. My track record with Snyder thus far:

Dawn of the Dead - not bad for a modern-day old-style zombie flick. C+

300 - only made it through 15-20 minutes. Simply awful. D-

Watchmen - fucking LOVED it. Great adaptation of the best ''graphic novel'' I've read. Even the omission of the giant space squid turned out to be a wise move (hello, Prometheus). A

That 3D Owl Movie - haven't seen it. Don't intend to. (unrated)

Sucker Punch - good lord, that was rubbish. Nice-looking rubbish, but utterly pointless. D

Hopefully Man of Steel will be more Watchmen than any of his others.

Oddly, I wasn't even slightly bothered by how completely wrong the physics was with the fusion reactor and I suspect I am quite possibly one of three people in Australia who recognised what type of reactor it was.

Lol... classic BADALEX.

welcome back cockneck.

JRB  said about 10 months ago:

can someone who knows pysics tell me if that was a nuclear explosion that will have no fall out?

Answer: Batman was trained by ninjas. As soon as ninjas pop up in the plot of any film, even to the tiniest degree, there is no obligation for anything in the movie to correspond with anything in the real world.

BADALEX  said about 10 months ago:

slothman- For a start, that really isn't how fusion reactors work so the entire thing was bullshit. Secondly, wind direction, blah blah blah, don't worry he dropped it out on the BAY. See? Now it makes sense.

you didn't notice all the lights going out during the motorbike chase?!>

yes i did notice that.

2nd viewing of this film didn't impress me as much. the explosions seemed cheap, the fights were dull and it wasn't as hard or dark as the last 2. it was certainly good but not great.

i still think and i'm hoping that we'll see a much better cut when it hits blu-ray later this year.

i rekon the watchmen is the greatest comic book movie of all time.

LaxCharisma  said about 10 months ago:

I enjoyed it. I'd like to see it again. I didn't analyse it to the degree some of you have. Call me old fashioned but I mostly like to watch films, not think about it too much and just enjoy it for what it is...I dunno I've found I enjoy a lot more things than most people and it's a lot better to my mind than being bitterly disappointed by everything. So elements of it were complete bullshit. Here's a news flash. Batman is not real.

In reality, there's no batman anyway and Gotham is not a real city neither, cockneck!

Get fucked.

LovingTheAlien  said about 10 months ago:

its a fucking movie. so explain the bat-bike, the bat, EMP gun, bat suit. explain all that??? that stuff cant really work and if any of it does work and is real and in existence, then its all been altered to suit the movie, story etc...

comic nerds are funny

LovingTheAlien  said about 10 months ago:

if there are any more batman movies to be made christopher nolan should at least be involved somehow. he's producing ''man of steel''

i'd like to see james cameron/frank miller/nolan batman movies. batman won't be coming back to our screens anytime in the near future unless someone wants to pick it up and run with it again. warner brothers surely would be down for that.

i expect talk of a star wars re-boot in the works about 2015

LovingTheAlien  said about 10 months ago:

whos a comic nerd?

LovingTheAlien  said about 10 months ago:

you can read all about the bat suit here:

GrantleyBuffalo  said about 10 months ago:

Lucas owns all Star Wars rights. He won't ''reboot'', he'll just keep meddling and re-releasing as he pleases.

(The 3D releases have the next 5 year's covered anyway)

GrantleyBuffalo  said about 10 months ago:

Years, not year's.

LovingTheAlien  said about 10 months ago:

Finally saw this at IMAX thanks to a comment higher in this thread - thanks NiteShok! Hugely bangin, huge sound, just huge. Glad I didn't see it at the regular cinema. And RACV members get 20% off tickets.

seahunt  said about 9 months ago:

Yeah I got around to seeing it. Didn't hate it, though all the poor editing and random continuity errors spoiled it. Watched the Dark Knight immediately before it and it is vastly superior, as I'm sure many of the above have noted.
