Scale Models launch their selftitled debut album at their favourite Melbourne watering hole, alongside some of their favourite Melbourne bands, on Saturday 28 January 2012.
When guitarists Ross Adam and Rene Schaefer started Scale Models just over a year ago, all they wanted was to combine the shambolic charm of mid 1980s british pop (think The Wedding Present and pre-make-up Cure) with the energy of The Pixies and Dinosaur Jr.
Not surprisingly, once they added drummer Danny Martinov and vocalist/songwriter/trumpet player Clare Hourigan to the mix, things quickly mutated into a musical direction all of their own.
Their 8 song debut CD is chock full of skewed pop hooks, combining uplifting melodies with melancholic musings on life, love and the human condition. It's bittersweet and it also kinda rocks.
Scale Models' pop attack has been perfectly captured by recording engineer James Alexander Dean, a man who knows a thing or two about indie pop.
The CD is a limited edition of 200, and each cover is handprinted and numbered for your nerdy collecting pleasure.
Come along to a fucking great night of contemporary guitar pop shenanigans....
We love you!
Listen to a song from the album on soundcloud.

who are Trade?
Trade are an instrumental band, who I haven't seen yet, but our guitarist Ross really digs them and I trust in his taste.

Gig of the year!!! Well.... gig of the last weekend in January at least.
This is going to be ace - can't wait.
Where's the Sydney leg of the tour?
Trade play Kraut rock style stuff, with ex/ current members of Useless Children, Fuck...I'm Dead, Flesh vs Venom. They are very good.

Hi tinyman.... no plans for a Sydney show at this point. But there will quite likely be a Brisbane gig in the next few months.
No plans at the moment Tinyman but a Sydney show could be fun. I'm trying to get the guys up here to Brisvegas for a few shows first.

Thanks Rosie - we had a fun time and it was great to see lots of peeps there. A massive thanks to Trade, New Estate and Actor/Model who all played brilliantly and were hard acts to follow. Also thanks to The Old Bar for having us and Electricsound for doing a fab job recording and mixing the album.
