US' LINGERIE FOOTBALL LEAGUE SET TO LACE 'EM UP IN AUSTRALIA
ALL-STAR GAMES TOUR HEADING DOWN UNDER!
For Release: Wednesday, 7 March, 2012
Can females play serious contact sport? You bet!
Get set for the global phenomenon that is Lingerie Football and Australia will see it live for the first time ever this June when the 2012 LFL All-Fantasy Game Tour goes for a touchdown on Australia’s world famous east coast.
The United States' fastest growing sports league (BusinessWeek), the Lingerie Football League (LFL) can easily be dismissed as a fashion parade, but don’t make the same mistake they’ve made elsewhere.
Don’t let the uniforms, or lack thereof, deceive you - these women know how to play ball and they do just that with all the passion, skill and athleticism of their male counterparts but with an added touch of glamour and finesse and a whole lot of attitude!
Playing a modified version of US NFL Football, Lingerie Football first hit the playing fields and TV screens as an alternative half time entertainment program on Super Bowl Sunday with the Lingerie Bowl attracting millions of viewers worldwide. And yes, while it was indeed the scantily clad bodies that attracted the initial, mainly male, viewership, it didn’t take long to realise that these beauties were also serious sportswomen ready to kick some serious arse! Eventually men and women and families turned up and switched on to cheer on their favourite players.
The mass appeal of the sport was evident and in 2009 the Lingerie Football League (LFL) was established premiering to sell-out crowds and millions of primetime TV viewers. The league consists of 12 teams from across the United States who play a 20 week season culminating in the ultimate showdown that is Lingerie Bowl. This year’s broadcast shattered records for channel MTV2 with an estimated 43 million viewers worldwide.
The Australian 2012 LFL All-Fantasy Game Tour will feature 32 of the best players across the league as the Western Conference battles the Eastern Conference in what has been called one of the most entertaining LIVE experiences in all of sports, and fun for the whole family, with all the show and spectacle you would expect.
Queensland native and all Aussie athlete Chloe Butler is the face of the League in its push to establish a competition in Australia by 2013 with four teams - Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. Chloe will serve as the ambassador of LFL Football coming to Australia and will captain the Western Conference squad.
Once you’ve witnessed LFL for 15 seconds you come to realise this is serious! These girls hit just as hard as the guys and when you take the time to look at their history you easily see it is survival of the fittest - this is tough!
LFL Football has developed one of its largest international fan bases Down Under having been broadcast on Fuel TV since 2009.
''We could have never imagined the incredible response of Australia to LFL Football. While we have received offers previously to bring LIVE exhibition games to Australia, we have never had the opportunity to team with the experience and attitude of the guys we have partnered with here in Australia. This is truly a significant moment in the short history of the league as we take our first step toward introducing Aussies to LFL Football and the eventual premiere of LFL Australia in 2013'', said Mitchell S. Mortaza, Chairman, Lingerie Football League, LLC.
It’s fast and it’s explosive. It’s Football... but not as you know it... and nowhere near as ugly!

I'm tipping a half time spectacular featuring The Galvatrons
Clive Palmer's available! Also, we have a 'world famous east coast' apparently.
I'm going to call it - this will be a massive flop, and at least one major daily will run a story on how it demeans women. And Melinda Tankard Reist will be quoted at some point.
''Can females play serious contact sport? You bet!''
Yeah, it's called roller derby. Not much serious about the LFL.

Great article on Woman's football n' that....
Geeze Helen, get your facts straight. It's Preston/Northcote, not Brunswick...
Seriously, Helen and Germaine are a little interchangeable in my mind these days as far as relevance in current social discussions these days. What a shame...but I digress....
TGTFO!
Wha??
there's a young bloke who works at the TAB and whenever he's on he's got 5 of the monitors on the US LFL and one on the horsies and he's staring up at chicks the whole time. if you put a bet on he won't even take his eyes off the screen to look at you, which is what i find offensive because i would totally rock that outfit.

My housemate wants to try out for one of these teams. We had a really interesting conversation about it all last night. Then we got to talking about including pole dancing as one of the events in Olympic gymnastics.
