The question is who will be Australia's own ''Snooki'', with Ten announcing its own TV reality series based on the hit US show Jersey Shore.
With its stunning beauty and ''tribe-like'' community, the Sutherland Shire, in Sydney's south, has been chosen as the perfect location to shoot The Shire.
Network Ten has announced the commissioning of the series - which will follow the lives of a group of ''charismatic'' and ''controversial'' characters.
''The Shire is a fascinating look into a unique sub-culture in Australia and the first time a local dramality series is being introduced to the commercial television landscape,'' says David Mott, chief programming officer, Network Ten.
''The Shire is a glimpse behind the curtain into the heart of Australia as you have never seen it before.''
''From their hectic and crazed social lives to problems with work and family, The Shire will leave no stone unturned,'' Mott says.
Just as the name ''Snooki'' (Nicole Polizzi) has become a household name across the US because of the success of Jersey Shore, Ten is hoping the characters on The Shire become some of the most talked-about in Australia.
Jersey Shore, which follows the lives of eight housemates from Jersey Shore in the US state of New Jersey, garnered record ratings for MTV, making it the network's most viewed series telecast ever.
''The genre has been a hit in the US (Jersey Shore) and the UK (The Only Way is Essex), changing the way people view television, and we intend to do the same,'' says Mott.
''The Shire epitomises the progression of reality television and in this social media age, we've built a show that is not only entertaining but capitalises on all the twitterverse and blogosphere has to offer.
''It is the next step in the reality TV phenomenon,'' says Mott.
Production on The Shire starts Monday March 26.

Wow, rampant wank speak.
personarry, i am looking forward to watching a bit of casual racism and seeing some hot 18 yo slappers in bikinis
i reckon this'll be big. in the UK they have The Only Way Is Essex. They were paying the people on the show about £20 a day.
I love how they rushed out news of the show after footage was ''leaked''. Reeks of desperation.
didn't know about the leak, just last nights aap article above.
this will make for the best drinking game.
*southern cross tattoo, have a drink.
*UNIT sticker on expensive holden ute, have a drink.
*frangipani sticker on barina, have a drink.
*UNIT sticker AND southern cross sticker on expensive holden ute, have 2 drinks.
*horrible racist slurs prefaced with ''yeah, i'm not racist but...have a drink.''
*dickheads justifying cronulla riots with ''protecting our way of life/they come here to cause trouble/it's our beach'', have 3 drinks.
*drunken bogan prancing round with flag cape dragging on the crowd, have a drink.
I think you're expecting too much from this show if you think they'll go anywhere near a heavy topic. it will be light as a feather.
As far as I know, dramality is not a word.
it's a perfectly cromulent word.
Geordie Shore didn't try to manufacture this kind of personalitymeme bullshit, and is all the less unbearable for it
The Shire is a most excellent way to present Australia's diversity to the rest of the world.
Here is the storyboard for episode one.
So funny on so many levels: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/entertainment/sydney-confidential/sutherland-mayor-carol-provan-launches-attack-on-producers-of-the-shire-reality-tv-show/story-e6frewz0-1226305302248

they say a country gets the government it deserves...so what about the tv shows?!?
when it comes to programming junk into the ch10 timeslot, i just shudder to think makes you wonder what garbage didn't make the cut.
it's like all the Big Brother rejects got cast into this cheesy fake rich whitey drama, bro.
horrific. I feel sorry for the people who are normal and live there.
You only need 5 minutes to get it. More than enough.
From The Age online
The Only Way Is Essex
my name's riffy raffy have you heard?/i'll leave you physically, mentaly and emotionally disturbed. BITCH!
why did Paul Kelly let them use his song Dumb Things for this shit?
$$$$$$$$$$
Shit, the five minutes I just watched were way more blatantly scripted than I ever imagined.
Nah, he did it for the credibility.
Shire star charged over gay attack
they really need to take this shit off air
If they had footage of the knife attack I'd probably watch it!
here's the chilling ''knife attack'' footage - note the website labeled the footage as ''Shire scrag fight''
^ ^ at least the ''scrag fight'' here seems a bit less scripted
I do kind of wonder if this is some next level guerrilla marketing campaign.
haha probably. so audaciously lame, but the inevitable click-through rate means it's probably effective.
anyone seen the ads for some show called ''The GC''? surely there can't be room for two of these shows.
Both on Channel 10, yeah?
Thanks for playing.
