anyone up for a game tonight?
I'll be in if it's on
i'm out tonight.
Hit up 2 x $7 NLHE tourneys today - came 12th in the first one, no prize money, but won the 2nd - just got $90. There are a boatload of bad players in these low stake games.
$7 - How many players?
Can set up a real cheap one now if you're keen?
I wish Nadal would fuck off.
45 players.
Oh come on!
ended up playing a little $7 12 runner sng, 6 max
was a bit of fun, there was this english bloke who was raising 5 x bb everytime from the same position and then shoving the flop (he was relatively big stacked on the table)
so everytime he raised like that i shoved and he folded, i did it to him like 8 times, was pretty funny, soon other people on the table were doing it too :-) came 2nd, was fun
I'm keen for some low stakes online poker to test the waters of my abilities online, this a decent stepping stone?
definitely, most of the games are $2.20 games in the home game club
I'm free tonight.
i'm in
I am hopeless with TexaHold'em/ :-(
Tugs - why? You make stupid bets? You play your cards rather than what you think your opponent is holding? You are a calling station hoping you will draw the card to make your hand?
Couple of very basic tips:
1) Position is very important and will affect your strategy
2) Learn to calculate the odds, pot and implied. i don't think you can play good poker unless you are doing this
3) It's not enough to win a pot....you need to maximise the amount you suck out of it. No good holding a monster hand if you make everyone fold. You need to suck them in.
4) Determine what sort of player you are eg tight/aggressive, loose/aggressive, passive etc..then you can work on changing gears to trip your opponnents up
5) Starting hands are very important...up to a point and will depend on what position you are in.
6) Don't bluff too much or you will come undone very quickly.
I am one of those Luddites who is not keen on online poker. I like face to face cash games. I can't pick up the tells online.
voidy, you'd make the transition fine
it's just that online, position, bet size and frequency and odds are an even bigger factor and paying attention even moreso than live when a hand gets to showdown
i believe that most tells in hold em can be found in the betting that is made, but i prefer real life by a long way, much more enjoyable.
This. And I always play the ''Hong Kong rules''
Sounds good. How many decks are used in a game?
By ''odds'', you mean the estimated odds or actual probability?
Tuggers, join up to the pokerstars pokerschool and they run you through some pretty straight up odd calculation kind of stuff. Then you can read more at your leisure. I lose a pot the other day all in preflop and before the turn I was a 98.8% chance of winning.
Alas, I lost. So trust me, it's a game of luck ;)
I might make a couple of you guys admins tonight or when I get home so if you want to start up games you can.
Try our best to coordinate some matches. I'll be up for one tonight foru sure though!

Horse. 9.30??
Actually just a NLHE.
Anyone on tonight?
Half an hour!
Cheap cash game set up 2c 5c
Cash game was good. A few people in there. Might get these going a bit more if people are keen. Come and go as you please.
Might get this puppy running again a bit later tonight - The 2c 5c room is open all the time.
I will make higher levels too if you wish.
anyone else watch the WSOP main event final table yesterday? final three played three handed for over 10 hours. fkn intense, surprisingly compelling television.
Don't tell me the result. I'll youtube it later on.
I deleted my pokerstars account in a bid to do more productive things. That and I got drunk and lost a bit of cash trying to play $30 18 player games. It's for the best.
Full Tilt Poker is back.... And my money is still in there!!!
This probably means I won't be logging into Pokerstars for a while... it's been fun!
Free money, had more on there than I thought. Still. Taking a break for a while.
any free games on pokerstars? should i join?
SwishMonster... in the game
I drained my pokerstars account of the money that was in it. I spent too much time on playing poker for no real decent gains where I should have been using my time for almost anything else.
The home games we had going were good because that was between people we knew and only used up a small amount of time.
I'd be keen to get a live game going this month though. That way you can at least hang out with people and listen to records.
Overall I won a small amount of money but nothing to justify the time spend doing it. I really like playing cards but time for an online break.
live games are the go
I'm back!
Kind of. But if you guys want to get some games happening again I'm up for it.
Interesting and intense game of HORSE last night.
Bumping this thread for visibility for newbies. Join up and let us take your money.
I'm up for a dirty deepstack NL holdem
I'd be up for a game later tonight if there is interest.
We're doing one at 8.40 if anyone wants to sign up. Private game between friends and enemies.
