Hey, that's me. I play records at places sometimes. Good records at good places. Places youse rabble might go to.
So here's a thread so I can blow my own trumpet, shine a spotlight on it, and inform interested parties when such may be occurring so they can pencil it in the diary. I may even have groovy artwork to post in the future (if and when I can work out how to do that).

Friday night Old Bar, Sat night St Jerome's Resurrection Lygon St East Brunswick.
Excellent! I won't be there this weekend though Kez as I'm interstate :(
So, tonight, Friday 13th at the Old Bar, after the bands.
It's Harlots' record launch, so if ya wanna see the bands it's 10 buckeroos in, but free after that.
Harlots - Launch,
Mesa Cosa,
Strangers From Now On,
DJ Kezbot
http://www.theoldbar.com.au/gigs/harlots-launch-mesa-cosa-strangers-from-now-on-dj-kezbot/
I thought I was the only bot on M+N! Clearly I was mistaken.
The name ''Kezbot'' was issued to me by the Old Bar staff when I started DJing there a coupla years ago now, something they wrote on the blackboard & put in the ads rather than my actual real name. It's on the worksheet, so it must be true. However I am not actually robotic, well, I wasn't last time I checked anyway.
Tonight at the Old Bar from whenever the bands finish until 3am.
And tomorrow night at Resurrection (St Jerome's) in East Brunswick, Lygon St ( almost opposite Kake Di Hatti Indian restaurant, for a landmark) from 9,pm til 1, free entry. They make very decent toasted sangers for a fiver too. It's my first gig there, and obviously I'd love to fill the joint with enraptured punters.
I play a mixture of rock and pop styles from the 50s-60s, 70s rock, glam, punk and powerpop, 80s & 90s alternative, a bit of more recent stuff as the mood takes me, but NOT doof/house/contemporary R&B etc. No ironic DJ Bobo. And nothing that'll have you holding your ears in pain and running for the exits (except maybe the existential pain of existence that we all suffer...)
(I haven't used so much self promotion since my last job application, and I'm a modest soul when I'm not being awesome.)
So if you're in the area, wanna check out the bar or even if you are curious about what I'll play(and I'm not even sure about what that will be as yet) then how about coming down/up and spending some time with some fine tunes in a cosy environment.

How did it go last night Lezwah??
Ooooohhhhh sorry!!! That was iPhone sausage fingers typo right there!!!
(you know I meant Kezwah!!!)
It was a fun night, as usual. I played stuff that suited the band/s then it morphed into a bit of party-down at the end of the night - last track was Jason & the Scorchers White Lies, a dang fine track from a rockin' band.
(heh heh, not 'Lez', typofingers!)
LEZWAAAH! Now that we no longer share a room on tour, is there something you'd like to tell me? :-)
Well, now that I've been outed I can adopt my new official DJ name, cancel all bookings to play exclusively at the Glasshouse in my Ellen t-shirt, playing nothing but back-to-back Melissa Etheridge and k d Lang rock-blocks.
It must be the fact that I own some lipstick that turned me, probably. And I played tennis a couple of times.
(apologies fir the lazy - or as they pronounce it in Scotland, lezzy - stereotype.
I'm DJing at the Corner Hotel now til 3am. Don't take your love to town... Bring it here instead.
damm that last train! one day I will ge to see your set out til 3am Kez! xo
There will be other times, matey (fiingers crossed).
I hope there's opportunities soon 'cause I'm back in Melbs from 31st July and a KEEN JELLYBEAN to dance to some great music (as opposed to the less awesome music one hears out and about in Hong Kong... the land that rock, soul, funk and groove forgot!!)
Hey! If you're not in Hong Kong or some far-out suburb (or even if you are), hear ye hear ye that DJ Kez returns to St Jerome's Resurrection Sat 28th of July. See ^up there somewhere for a vague description of my musical ''ouvrre''.
Requests policy: if I have it and I would probably play it anyway I'll see what I can do (if it fits the 'vibe' that I'm layin' down, maaannn).
Last time I was there they had haloumi burgers on the menu - absolutely awesome & highly recommended to hungry personages.
(Polly, I'll play Siouxsie** & the Bsnshees' Hong Kong Garden in honour of your impending return to somewhere without a peak tram. Popboom, I don't have anywhere with your particular place of residence in the title, so will have to make do with some awesome powerpop instead. Fret not, I have plenty to spare for the time you're actually in the room, but you can rest easily knowing that someone somewhere is listening to The Plimsouls or Rainyard or whatever.) And I'll be playing some Zoot. And Deep Purple - I'm still reeling from that.

Sorry to say there was no yacht rockin' in my house tonight, dj (though I think a drunk girl may have requested Phil Collins, which I did not oblige her with - I think I may have been playing Beatallica at the time...).
From the Old Bar website:
''02/03/2013
alanCampbell, The Loveless, Divide & Dissolve, Drifter, DJ Cisco Rose''
Ruh-roh, Cisco Rose has a note from his mother for tonight and won't be able to make it. No doubt he'll be back rockin' the captain's chair on the DJ bridge before long.
In the meantime, like the called-in substitute teacher who lets you act up in class and puts a video on, you'll find yours truly subbing the decks instead, Actually, that teacher analogy was a bit out. I don't allow talking back, peashooting paperwads, chewing gum under the desk or chucking the blackboard duster while my back's turned.
Instead, like Van Halen presciently pointed out, I'll be playing some hot rocknroll tunes as befits the bands. We have guitars. We have drums. We have effects pedals. We have the good sense not to play what drunken office workers on the way home from dance clubs want to hear when they stumble in by mistake.
What would you like to hear on Good Friday?
Sacred Cowboys - Nailed To The Cross?
Something from Patti Smith's album Easter?
Leon Russell - Roll Away The Stone?
I've put some thought into this (and away from more important things) and have come up with a playlist to DIE for (twice).
Tonight at the Old Bar, after the bands. Don't be hot cross bunnies tonight, come save your soul and be (w)holy entertained.
Stairway to Heaven? Yes/No?
(Stairway didn't run, TLDP.)
To the guy who was dancing to Died Pretty's Godbless : Thank you for having good taste.
Last track of the night? the perennial (or annual) Monty Python - Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life (followed by a go-home-now tune to sweeten you on your way, Velvet Underground's Jesus.)
Hey! Do you like kitsch retro? Like the south seas islands? Like massive cocktails and décor to die for? Who doesn't! You'd like the LuWow then, right? I KNOW I am!
Do you like great old rock'n'roll, blues and R&B? JRB does, loves it in fact, and he has a massive collection of prime tunes that he loves playing for people. And I'm very privileged that he's asked me to be his co-pilot tonight (Friday 5th April). We'll be tag-teaming it from about 9pm til stumps while Japanese garage-rock kittens the Go Devils racket up a storm in the live room.
Freakin' heck, there's nowhere else to be tonight than the LuWow in Johnston St Collingwood (about 2 doors from the Old Bar so you can hit 'em both if you have the stamina). So grab your lei and your woody (that's a surfboard, right?) and slide on down to deepest darkest Fitzroy tonight to get your exotic on.
I like a lot of those things
There should just be a 'like' button, shouldn't there.
Go-go BOYS tonight... I'm liking this!
Well that was a whole heap of fun.
It certainly was, JRB. Let's do it again sometime.
In the meantime, I know everyone is hanging out to see me DJ again, because it was such a long time since the last gig (18 hours is a lifetime in showbiz).
SO how about heading on down to the Public Bar tonight from midnight til the wee wee hours - later than that, til 7am the next day. Hit me with your curly requests. I don't object to getting a bit of the rock on air, indie cred has never been my aspiration.
OK, listen up:
Old Bar, right? Good place, right? That's a given. But check out this lineup:
Saturday 27th April:
Fourteen Nights At Sea - Launch,
Ninety Nine (Maxwell Smart's favourite band),
Bulls (Linda & Bean from Dacios)
DJ Kez
$10
How frkn awesome is that! And I'll have a very SPECIAL music selection as requested, to play after. VERY special. What is it to be? You'll have to come along to find out!
SWEEEEEEET!!!!!!
Yes, I may play some Brian Connolly and the lads, since you request it, JRBBBBB...
Garage punk, psych and 60s rock. YEAH! How good is it!
When I was a kid a friend gave me a record her dad had found in an old radiogram. ''Here, you like weird music, don't you'' (typecast so young!) and handed ne a copy of Count 5 Psychotic Reaction. This Friday 3rd of May I'll be playing not only that very record, but as many of the tracks that record led me to as I can squeeze in after the bands : Blue Stratos, Wrong Turn, and Cal Peck & The Tramps (W.A.). Off The Hip are curating the bands so given their usual good taste it should be a stonkin' good night.
(Requests for Madonna/Beyonce etc will be politely ignored, so be assured quality control is HIGH.)
Bump for the day people. Old Bat tonight. It'll be fuzztastic!
So no slayer?
Or maybe all Slayer?
Old bat? Better not let Ozzy in! Sheesh, this typo-making machine is doing me no favours. I typed in RSL and got 'rascal' earlier today.
Old BAR, innit.
If I can find a record Slayer released in the 60s they're in with a chance. But let's face it, if Metallica can't make the cut with Garage Days I don't like their chances somehow (despite having my homophobe in the band).
homophoNe, ffs. I've gotta stop posting on my phone. I just unintentionally insulted a Slayer member, which was obviously (to me) not my intention. Apologies, KK, and any enraged fans of his.
