MUSE

the power of 666  said about 6 years ago  or at  2:49PM on Tuesday, January 16 2007 in music news

...are basically as good as a Radiohead coverband who formed at their parents Tennis tournament. Soul-less as a 20 year old pair of volleys used for the brakes on y'BMX, mate.

Any fans?

i actively dislike this band

Mrmusic  said about 6 years ago:

Actually digging the new album.
The other day I compared them to U2 - Consistently slightly above average.

muse like long notes

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

brokenbrastraps  said about 6 years ago:

What do you mean 666? What about "unintended"?

paulie  said about 6 years ago:

i saw their show when they played at the evelyn, the lead singer/guitarist's a pretty impressive performer, but i can't get much joy from their music unfortunately. not really a fan.

the power of 666  said about 6 years ago:

I just get the vibe they found a piece of software called the Radioheadinator where you cry into a microphone, it strips it of emotion, ticks Radiohead boxes and pumps it out as an .aiff file.

Port it to OSX.

the power of 666  said about 6 years ago:

I saw a clip of theirs last night, where they've tried to do this low grade looking movie that's ment to be funny, and if it was anyone else, it could have been, but there's something about them that just seems so contrived.

k2  said about 6 years ago:

Muse is what the kids of today like 6er. You're just getting old.

pretty much one of the greatest bands to walk the face of the earth THATS ALL

Poose.

brokenbrastraps  said about 6 years ago:

I don't think it sounds like Radiohead at all.

the power of 666  said about 6 years ago:

His vocals are very 'classic' Thom Yorkesque, moreso than the music.

the power of 666  said about 6 years ago:

And K2, that's My Chemical Romance.

astralwerkor  said about 6 years ago:

earlier stuff does, but that accusation is dead and buried now. i dont mind a little muse, but not too much.

ClevelandRocks  said about 6 years ago:

Yeah im a big fan of muse, i like their productions, vocals, guitar sounds and melodies etc.

Mrmusic  said about 6 years ago:

I think there are clear elements of Yorke and J Buckley, but they're still different.

The keyboardist and drummer are epic.

we'll carry oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnn!!!!!!!! we'll carry oooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnn!!!!!

k2  said about 6 years ago:

anyone who has said they like muse here, please state your age for the court.

Mrmusic  said about 6 years ago:

<-- Older than 6er and less of a nerd.

I'm old, I repeat myself.

Hey, a good story bears repeating.

Type O Negative didn't take themselves seriously

That's a shame...it'd be funnier if they did, somehow.

mathieson  said about 3 years ago:

There's some batshit crazy stuff on this album, although the Dpeeche Mode-y track is alright.

hiponion  said about 3 years ago:

''Undisclosed Desires'' sounds like ''Try Again'' by Aaliyah.

This record is seriously just weird. What were they trying to do?

tvforcats  said about 3 years ago:

I used to be a big fan, then i got kinda all mused out, and cant really seem to have time for them anymore. Then just seem to over bombast everything and use too many romantic chord structures. i also had a similar relationship to tool also, as they also seemed to get stuck doing the same thing. This also reminds me of my old bands when the band members were knobwenching muse fans, and thank fuck those days are over.

McGauz  said about 3 years ago:

that was my thought hiponion.. what ARE they trying to do!? it's just weird...

hiponion  said about 3 years ago:

I mean they go from typical Muse bombast to faux-REM to Aaliyah cover to blatant Queen ripoff just in the first four tracks.

So many awful bands referenced in this thread. Muse (obviously), Mars Volta, Tool, Placebo...

It's like a 15 yr old emo's wet dream in here...

What an incredibly well-informed article!

''Moshing is banned in Australia after the 2001 death of a young girl during The Big Day Out Festival when LIMP BIZKIT were on stage.''

Actionralf  said about 2 years ago:

Moshing is banned?

Trailer for new album 'The 2nd Law'

I find it funny how they're toying with dubstep 6+ months after it was last cool

Man, muse used to be cool. I saw them headline NME tent at Reading in 98 or 99 and they smashed it live. Tight and fucking heavy. Even the first few BDO shows I thought pretty much ruled. I hope that Olympics track dosen't get such in my head, that is fucked!
