How good were they? Who can play guitar like them? Lets start a band, ill play triangle (in a weird timing and open tuning).

Corcrane Secret, what an amazing album, opening track just kills it. At the time I was disappointed by Shapes, but haven't listened to it for a while...

mswahili  said about 7 years ago:

No-one plays like Ash Bowie and Dave Brylawski at their best. I guess Eric Bachman got close though.

I'll play elastic-band guitar. At half speed - my fingers won't obey faster instructions.

mswahili  said about 7 years ago:

Shapes is still the only Polvo album I don't have. I don't think it'll ever grow on me, really.

squircle  said about 7 years ago:

Same, only because the drummer left but listening back, it is real interesting. Wish they would have toured here damn it.

squircle  said about 7 years ago:

Never heard of Eric Bachman, anyone else similar to them i might like?

columbo  said about 7 years ago:

i was listening to Polvo again just the other day.

'fractured like chandeliers' is one of the best complilation-tape songs ever (thanks Geoff Towner for getting me into these guys in the first place).

Polvo, Archers of Loaf...and the Sloan album 'smeared' = excellent driving music

mswahili  said about 7 years ago:

sorry squircle, Eric Bachman = Archers of Loaf frontman / guitarist

squircle  said about 7 years ago:

How weird you say that columbo - i listened to them yesterday for the first time in ages and thought that "like chandeliers" would be a great name for a band!!!

Archers rock, the other guitarist is also amazing.

<---bad with names.

Where's fastcanoe? Fastasleep?

oort  said about 7 years ago:

Turnpike are better than polvo

squircle  said about 7 years ago:

Wow, never known anyone to like Polvo apart from the girls who got me into them.

squircle  said about 7 years ago:

whos turnpike?

fastcanoe  said about 7 years ago:

GREATEST THING EVER TO OCCUR IN MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes, Shapes is shit, don't touch it.

I'm very interested in anyone wanting to do something along these lines musically and have a 64 mustang tuned to something stupid awaiting fun factor asian influenced note bending and dual attack low end riff formulas.

fastcanoe  said about 7 years ago:

Turnpike are a fantastic band out of Brisbane, have been around for many years now (10+).. they are the closest australia has ever seen to a polvo worship.. but not in a bad way.

oort  said about 7 years ago:

They're playing in MELBOURNE END OF MARCH

more info soon...

Turnpike are awesome, but....

Hey, I wanna meet these girls who got you into Polvo! I remember seeing a girl who wore a 'Celebrate the New Dark Age' t-shirt around town many years ago, always felt like running after her and making a fool of myself.

shield your eyes have some polvo-ish guitar lines. good band - check them out.

Incremental  said about 1 year ago:

new record coming soon. apparently a bit looser than in prisms (which i thought was great), more like today's active lifestyles. looking forward to it.

anok  said about 1 year ago:

That tune is ok, but I'm hoping for a much less beefy record.

anok  said about 1 year ago:

Some good fart noises towards the end.

Little Ted  said about 1 year ago:

OH YAY! new Polvo song..makes my bones sing.

Little Ted  said about 1 year ago:

hahah those fart noises are odd

Stepharoo  said about 1 year ago:

I like this song a lot.

anok  said about 1 year ago:

Gnat's clit recordings? Needs more sitar drone.

tenzenmen  said about 1 year ago:

sounds a bit more polvo and a bit less black taj (than in prism). cool.

tenzenmen  said about 5 months ago:

anyone know where i can pick up a copy of in prism on cd in australia?

anok  said about 5 months ago:

do they have the internet in australia yet?

tenzenmen  said about 5 months ago:

FLC

mswahili  said about 5 months ago:

Wow, thanks for that link tzm. Finally someone with a decent ear figures out all my favourite guitar parts! Everything else I've encountered (covers, tabs, even attempts at full scores) is verging on tone-deaf.

tenzenmen  said about 5 months ago:

i think there's six other songs up there too - plus other great stuff like ween, unwound and DLJ
