Just listen to "South of Heaven"....
i don't get it Mr. Canoe
oh the Slayer Album.... fuck i'm ignorant....
I was debating buying Slayer tickets whilst happening to listen to Swell Maps today.. hence the Epic Soundtracks / South of Heaven thing... super obvious and all that :]
what.. .I know Epic was in SM and CATCS... but what does that have to do with SLAYER?!?!?
Nothing.. just that I recalled I was listening to SM whilst thinking about forking out the cash.. and then you through South of Heaven out there.. though I sure I could find one of those 6 steps kind of things linking them and their first born.
throw even... drunk
haha probably
Should I have used "appreciation thread" in the title?!
yep
not too late to start another one... or people could just start appreciating HERE.
um welll yeh maybe I'm just jaded or something.
i thought you were talking about Mick Harvey's band
yes I was trying to Columbo... Ignore all that stuff at the top of the thread!
Great band. Great playing from R.s. howard.
Just been introduced to these guys. Reminds me of the Go-Betweens at times. Really enjoying it :)
just got a bunch of CATCS as a surprise!
good Surprise!
saw these folks supporting Husker Du in 1986 or so. what a great show!
That's Rad Tenzo!
the albums sound amazing too. Great production.
New album and tour 2012
hope they tour Oz with that line-up... Standish/Carlyon should be on the bill.
Wow. David Eugene Edwards playing with them too.
Book 'em, mulligan!
anyone know who's in the band these days? I'm seeing them Oct24, yay.
I'd like to see them do a cover of the Celibate Rifles' Bill Bonney Regrets.
According to David Yow on Facebook:
Just saw 'em in NYC. Was never much of fan, but geez they are great, committed players.
Dear friends
Our attempts to play Australia are hurtling into the abyss so I thought I'd put it out there to see if we can save the whole thing. The story: we have an offer to play ATP but we need shows in at least Sydney and Melbourne to cover costs - if a brave promoter with good taste is out there and is interested let us know and we can put you in contact with our booker. Bare in mind we are eight and we use back projection so we need to be able to fit on the stage (comfortably) and have enough clearance to run the back projection. For an idea of the show just look at the various clips below.
Here's hoping for some magic in the twilight.
Best wishes
Simon

Crime & The City Solution Announce East Coast Tour
13 December, 2012
Legendary formerly Australian-based post-punk group Crime & The City Solution indicated that they had been given the opportunity to tour down under for the first time in well over 20 years. In order to do so, however, they were going to need someone to assist them in putting on their, somewhat grandiose, live shows in a couple of different Australian territories.
Heathen Skulls have taken on the challenge and today announce three shows for the band who reformed earlier this year after splitting up back in 1991, taking the eight members of the band and their massive stage show, including stage projections, on the road for dates along the east coast.
The band has had something of a revolving line up in the time they were together, but the line up that Simon Bonney, the group's founder and frontman, has put together is very impresive, featuring Bronwyn Adams, Alexander Hacke, David Eugene Edwards, Troy Gregory, Danielle de Picciotto, Matthew Smith and the masterful Jim White.
The show dates are as follows, US psych rock masters Sleepy Sun support at all shows.
Monday 18 February - The Hi-Fi, Melbourne
Thursday 21 February - The Hi-Fi, Sydney
Sunday 24 February - The Hi-Fi, Brisbane
Does anyone know if he'll play a Wovenhand set while he's here?
I briefly met Simon Bonney last night and had a fleeting fangirl moment. Can't wait for the C&CS shows.
''The story: we have an offer to play ATP''
So is this gonna happen. Seems ATP are never going to announce the second HALF of the festival.
