Does M&N hate Modular bands?

steveholt  said about 6 years ago  or at  6:35PM on Tuesday, May 22 2007 in music

I have noticed amongst many threads a general discension toward bands on Modular (the record label that is)

Would that be a fair thing to say?

I gotta say I love lotsa bands on this label and they are unfairly maligned by this forum. I am scared to speak out for my adoration

Nah, I love Modular bands.... but then again I'm not really a mono kid. Bit of an outcast reallly.

When I like music, labels are irrelevant.
M&N is inside the modularz!

goldfoot  said about 6 years ago:

What bands are on Modular?

sister  said about 6 years ago:

scaredy cat

Ubu  said about 6 years ago:

Why would you be scared expressing your fondness of a particular band or label? I didn'f know M&N was a sole body.

Ron  said about 6 years ago:

I don't think 'discension' is really a word. Therefore you're thread is worthless. WORTHLESS.

Ron  said about 6 years ago:

Shit! "Your".

Cool.

Every time I turn on JJJ, there's a song by Kisschasey, or some other shit punk band, moaning about all the cool kids and the modular scene.

What's wrong with tight jeans and good electro? Tight jeans look good, good electro sounds good.

Now, I hate the bullshit OneLove scene more than anyone, with all those dumb jocks and hairdresser sluts spending $100 a night on entry and drinks so they can try to pick up and admire their 'ripped' jeans and slip-on sandals.

But I do think that Modular is more about the music. Sure, there's heaps of One Love idiots at Cut Copy and Presets gigs, but a band cannot be choosy about their audience or else they'll never leave the Hopetoun.

temporarybenbutler  said about 5 years ago:

Modular is half owned by UMA, hardly a pure distribution model

And UMA has two of three directors, t'other being Pav, thus making Modular a company controlled by UMA under the corps law.

steveholt  said about 4 years ago:

So in retrospect I hate Modular bands as a rule now. I hate what this label has become and the people who now walk around in those fucking disco ball t-shirts, printed hoodies, tight jeans and those horrible canvas shoes that should only be worn by 50 y.o women on their husbands yachts.

I do however like Cut Copy.

tvforcats  said about 4 years ago:

I get confused with Cut Copy and Midnight Jugs.

Didn't Cut Copy used to be on their own label? Do they just have distro through Modular? Same for Midnight Jugs??

Do any of the bands see much moola?

If I was a school principal, I certainly wouldn't allow something called ''Bang Gang'' to play at my school.

Kez  said about 3 years ago:

It's a spoonerism of ''Gang Bang'', concerned parents.
