Essendon Bombers FC - Red and Black

gabbo  said about 5 years ago  or at  3:51AM on Sunday, June 3 2007 in stupidity

Could not find another thread, so bring on the fawning, gloating, and talk of umpteenth premierships, Brownlow's, Coleman's, and ANZAC Day medals...

gabbo  said about 5 years ago:

Tonights win beats last weeks in the 'smugness stakes'.

A win feels so much better when the opposition whinge endlessly.

gabbo  said about 5 years ago:

c'mon... any sad swannies out there in need of a whinge?

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago:

Nah, but I will say this....GO EAGLES!!!!!!

moses  said about 5 years ago:

it was worth losing just to see lloyd getting booed off stage

fuck i hate that guy.

andyr  said about 5 years ago:

Hooray!

gabbo  said about 5 years ago:

what's he ever done to you? :)

next week, Bombers vs Eagles.

Anything could happen.

Go Bombers!

TagoMago  said about 5 years ago:

I don't like to think of myself as a pessimistic Essendon supporter, but honestly guys, lets put our jackets away, we won't be waving them. Not that i'll care, i'll be on a high from last nights win for about 10 months.

gabbo  said about 5 years ago:

oh yeah, i don't think there are any bombers fans out there that think we are challengers, and winning slightly over 50% of our games may work against us, trade-style, but last nights win was quite fun!

devo  said about 5 years ago:

nothing better than beating the swans by a single point.

go dons

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago:

Anything could happen.

No.

nothing better than beating the swans by a single point.

  1. Premiership. Too fucking right...

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago:

Erm, that 1 should have been 2006, as in

-2006. Pemiership. Too fucking right...

TagoMago  said about 5 years ago:

Remember in '96, when Bombers lost by a single point twice in the one final series? First against Brisbane when Gavin Wankaneen hit the post, and then 2 weeks later against Sydney in the preliminary final when Hird got his eyes gouged out and Locket kicked that point. I think thats what made me the jaded, cynical piece of shit I am today.

gabbo  said about 5 years ago:

i blame Tony Lockett for a lot of my faults too.

TagoMago  said about 5 years ago:

Humanity blames Tony Lockett for its faults.

poprocks96  said about 5 years ago:

wankaneen ?? i loved wanga !!! why do people dislike lloyd ? is it cause he throws the grass in the air ???

good win last night. stanton, fletcher, hird were all good. slattery is playing well too.

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago:

Bombers to bounce back with a season saving loss next week...

TagoMago  said about 5 years ago:

It's probably Lloyds incessant premeditated diving for free-kicks. If it annoys even me, imagine how much it infuriates the opposition supporters. It's like he gives up in the marking contest half the time and just waits for a faint touch to then spawl himself on the ground. But hey, it works, so good on him.

Pal  said about 5 years ago:

Ah yes, the Swan Diver.

ladyinred  said about 5 years ago:

Pops: didn't you ever call him wankaneen? It's just because it fits... Another example- Wank Carey.

bit disappointed with a fair few performances this season. Seem to still be a three quarter side.

poprocks96  said about 5 years ago:

nah, i was totes in love with wanga and would never have called him that !!!!!

Not too many weeks when you have in's like that.

chimpassgimp666  said 13 days ago:

Weird decisions for both teams. I'd say there will be a few changes.

moribunderast  said 13 days ago:

Ryder is an emergency so I reckon he might come in. Walker for the Cats is an emergency despite just returning from injury with no VFL game-time, so I reckon a Cats tall (Hawkins or Blicavs maybe) is also in doubt. As a Cats fan, I'm hoping all those ins unsettle your team! Both teams still missing good players.

Hopefully it's a good game. The match two years ago (where the Dons ended the Cats winning streak) was a beauty so I'm hoping for something like that, albeit with a different result.

chimpassgimp666  said 13 days ago:

ryder will play i rekon and walker will come in for hawkins...hunt may come in too. will be a great game

gabbo  said 13 days ago:

i'm still a little scared. we looked awful against GWS in the 1st half.

slothman  said 13 days ago:

i'm as confident of victory in this match as i have been fort every match this season.

just saw another dude wearing bombers gear. we shared a thumbs up and my dog didn't bark at him. good sign, trust me.

maxkohane  said 12 days ago:

cats by 5 goals for me. go dons!

jimmy hutspah  said 12 days ago:

cats will likely have 11 players with less than 50 games experience, so this is your best chance to beat them!

nedb  said 12 days ago:

Best outcome for everyone is that you just smack the shit out of each other.

mathieson  said 12 days ago:

I love how the outs list for the Bombers had various explanations in brackets for each player like calf or hamstring or omitted, but for Hille it just said ''France''.

kinghound  said 12 days ago:

Hille (France [no homo])

slothman  said 12 days ago:

the geelong coach was on the footy show last night, when asked about hille going to france he said ''my understanding is that he was ready to retire at the end of last year and this was part of the negotiations. the days of coaches telling players how to live their lives are gone. almost anything is negotiable.'' which is just a long way of saying ''no homo''.

slothman  said 11 days ago:

well that didn't go as well as i had hoped.

i think it was won in the third quarter. the bombers had more of the play but weren't able to score the goals. they ran themselves ragged and didn't have enough in the tank to sneak it home. was pretty interesting to hear the commentators do a mini-backpedal with about ten minutes to go in the final quarter when the bombers looked a bit of a chance.

we'll get 'em next time.
