In an Australian exclusive, the ACMI Federation Square will be home to an exhibition of rare and never before seen artworks including drawings and models from Cars and Pixar’s upcoming release, Ratatouille and a model of Nemo created by Pixar artists.
Everyone’s favourite Pixar characters including Flik (A Bug’s Life), Buzz Lightyear and Woody (Toy Story, Toy Story 2), and Nemo (Finding Nemo) will feature in the exhibition which reveals the often unseen, artistic and technical process that lies behind some of the world’s most popular films.
Pixar: 20 Years of Animation will feature over 500 paintings, concept art, sculptures, and an array of digital installations revealing the intricate processes behind Pixar’s computer-generated films popular with both children and adults.

I for one am failry excited about this.
I grew up on this shit, and still watch all of them to this day.
Watched Bugs Life last week, and it's still cracks me up.
Sorry if this has already been posted, but I can't search.

please say this will make it to sydney
They also have this thing called a ZEOTROPE (sp?).
It's got 100's of Toy Story toys placed inside, at diffierent positions, so that when the thing spins, it works as a live animation of the toys.
Sounds fun to me.
I am also very excited about this, it should be extremely awesome.
*does little dance*
i watched both finding nemo and the incredibles in the past week
so excited! hope it's good. they do put on a good show at these things pixar. brad bird did a great presentation at london film fest...
I also love this short film they put at the start of the Bugs life VHS.
I think it's called Geralds Game, and it's about an old man playing chess with him self.
He has a split personality and one is really mean to the other.
Quite funny.
That other short with the snow dome is good too.
ACMI is up a rolling again folks. Anyone know how long the exibtion runs for?
Yeah, There are 6 big wigs from Pixar doing talks on the diffierent stages of animation also.
Like one dude talks about the real life models, one talks about the backgrounds and so on.
Shit, It's starts on the 28th of June, Not sure when it's over.
I think it's on for a least a month.
Finishes- Sun 14 Oct
This be the ZEOTROPE
But it'll have a cover when we see it.
oooh, they had one of those at eyes, lies, illusions.. it was way cool. with a strobe light and it's like live-before-your-eyes animation
J-P that's one of their first films, and it was nominated for an Oscar in short animation
i think it was one of the first cgi animations to be nominated
so going.
More stuff that'll be on display.
Yeah, I knew that, I just really like it.
The first one they did was the lamp one,1986's "Luxo Jr.,"
Hard to believe thats almost as old as me.
Just for a bit 'a fun,
Toy Story,
Or
Toy Story 2?
1st one for me.
Hopper Model.
WOW!
Go to this dudes page, and click on the word MOVIE,
He's filmed the zoetrope and it looks in cerdible.
all that work for 2sec of animation..... jebus...
http://www.navone.org/blogger/2006/07/pixar-zoetrope.html
hahaha..
I like how Weezy launches the Aliens into a black hole.
Which is the company that does all the shirt versions of these movies? Yunno, Antz, Monster House et al?
Shirt? SHIT!!
Pixar did Monsters Inc, right? Frickin' great film.
Dreamworks.
And yes, They suck in comparison.

I thought this was pretty good
ahh crap, i'm not going to have time to see it :(
This was really cool BTW.
The bit at the end was my fave, Artscape.
That triped me out a fair bit.
I got the book for this too.
Really nice book containing all the peices from the expo, $40.
Best things there were the pic of the Grasshoppers Jumping on the Ants + Sids head from Toy Story + The model of Gill from Nemo.
I watched Nemo after this, and I think thats my fave of them all.
i am going to this next weekend! hurrah!
Saw Ratatouille this weekend, Really liked it.
I'm going to watch it again tonight.
Shat all over Cars.
Thats the worst one yet, Cars.
lies.
cars was unreal.
well, ratatouille just won the best animated feature oscar.
SHHHHHHH!!!!
Whats good about cars, in your opinion?
I'd like to know, serious.
Friend sent me a boot of UP.
2nd worst Pixar next to Cars.
Has moments of the usual sweet / cute pixar stuff you've come to love, but it's just a shit story in the end.
1st 10mins is pretty heavy for a kids film.
3/10
does the old man find out he has terminal cancer so he goes on one last adventure?
SPOLIER ALLERT_______________
It starts with him as a young boy, he meets a girl who has the same hero as him, they fall in love, get married, she dies (all this is in a montage) then it's just him and his house left.
Just felt weird that someone would die in a pixar film, let alone in the 1st ten mins.
It's required though, so you get the fell that this guy is a grumpy old git, who hates the world around him.
i'm a little dubious on Up...but keen to see. does the old man character grow on you? he doesnt look so loveable to me.
currently watching Cars for about the 9th time in past 4 days.
I can see why its not rated as well as the others as it doesnt have the wider general appeal and sentimentality of Toy Story 1 & 2, nor the more clever and sophisticated storyline/characters of Monsters Inc. (both i have also seen multiple times just in past week). i dont mind Cars, i like listening to owen wilson's texan flavoured Mcqueen , and small town charm of radiator springs. and Mater is awesome!
toy story 3 comes out next year. i'm excited.
Well, once he starts teaming up with the kid in the film, yeah, he turns good again.
But yeah, like you've said, you can't really relate to anyone in the film, and I think it's a shit story really.
It could have been a 5min ABC in between shows filler.
Cars is just lame, I mean, Cars, who give a fuck about a car.
Oh yeah, there are like 50 dogs in the film, and they can all magicly talk, due to haveing special collars.
Fuck that.....
well, there's an underlying message to be learnt in Cars thats not really about cars themselves...Mcqueen learns that 'its not about winning the race but how you race'...and on top of that he rejueventates a small town that had died out after getting bypassed by a major highway. its about people relationships and moral ethics!
hmm..talking dogs in Up smells like the marketing team needing a merch angle to flog with film release. i mean, whose gonna cuddle & play with a grumpy old man doll?
You've just described Bugs Life, Toy Story and Wall-E there too.
naaah,,,,bugs life is more about non comformation/entrepreneurial ideas/teamwork/believing in oneself and others in adverse times/beating the bigger man/cycle of life.
toy story about loyalty, self discovery, alliance, belonging, fickle throwaway culture, consumerism.....blah...
i havent seen wall-e....i dont get it, and visually looks cold.
TOY STORY 3 TRAILER

Andy is a teen, gives the toys to a day care.
Looks good.
