Special international guests Dr Lonnie Smith (USA) and Trevor Watts and Veryan Weston (UK) will headline this year’s 22nd Darling Harbour Jazz and Blues Festival!
More than 40 bands will deliver an unforgettable musical experience for visitors over the June long weekend, from Saturday 9 to Monday 11 June (11am – 7pm).
Presented by Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, the Darling Harbour Jazz and Blues Festival will feature an outstanding line up of international and local artists performing FREE.
Australia’s favourite jazz and blues artists will take the stage at the festival including James Morrison (with his funk band), Tina Harrod and the Godmothers, Geoff Bull New Orleans Jazz Band, The Hands, Pugsley Buzzard, King Tide, Baecastuff, Mojo Juju and Harry James Angus Band.
Also on the bill is Smith, Stack and Thistlewayte, Christa Hughes and the Honky Tonk Shonks, Kira Puru and the Bruise, Crusty Suitcase Band, Greening from Ear to Ear, Jonathan Zwartz Ensemble, Amphibious, Compass Sextet, James Valentine, Moth, Alice Terry and the Skinny White Boys, Sister Jane, Brothers Grim and the Blue Murder, Bob Abbotts Fabulous Green Machine, Joshua Kyle, Elly Hoytt, Fuji Collective, Richard Perso, Swamphouse, Big Ol’ Bus Band, The Louisiana Road Show, Nicky Bomba’s Bustamento, The Bombay Royale and more!
Each day of the festival visitors can discover the magic of jazz and blues in all its genres from the avant-garde to the traditional including contemporary, blues and roots, funk, experimental, R&B, soul, classical, reggae-roots, groove, acid and more.
Jazz fans can kick back in the relaxed bar at Tumbalong Park and enjoy delicious food and a glass of wine while taking in the headline acts on the festival’s main stage.
In the tradition of the New Orleans, the festival will feature a jazz parade at 11am on Saturday 9 June. Musicians both professional and amateur are invited to participate in this exciting parade through Darling Harbour.
Young jazz fans can get up close and personal with one of Australia’s best jazz artists John Morrison who will be running free big band workshops on Sunday and Monday at 11am in Tumbalong Park.
