VIVARTA comes sidling up to you like a long-forgotten memory. Onemoment you are watching a band, taking in freshly rendered sound inreal time and the next you are haunted by past loves, smelling the airof your first summer behind the wheel of an automobile, transfixed bythe very act of reminiscense. This is how they draw their audiencein, appealing to our sense of nostalgia, and rewarding listeners withwaves of longing, remembered and distilled from the passion of youth.Their music is infectious, it echoes from the vault of emotions thatare forged in adolescence, when our curiosity was pure and our heartsyet unbroken.
The Kyoto based trio is a formation of rare igneous rock. Aconglomerat of punk/new wave/alt/ and emo, subjected to unknowngeothermal activities over the ages, has cooled into an exotic, dense, and sharp-edged,obsidian. Their influences (Velvet Underground, JoyDivision, Nirvana) come through in the lustre of VIVARTA's techniquebut the resultant sounds are a substance now transformed by inexorablepressures into a fluid new eruption of rumbling Bass and alternatelysubdued/chaotic guitars, punctuated with tight drum kicks and sparserimshots. Singer/Guitarist Naohiro's plaintive voice evokes theturmoil of magma below the surface, his stage presence focusingattention on tensions that periodically explode the air with noise.Kentaro is the inconspicuous epicenter, radiating bass notes oftectonic proportion, and drummer Kazuaki is the fault line of rhythmiccontinuity. Together their forces constitute a monolithic naturalphenomenon which marks the Soundscape.
