Lunchbox #3: Circle Pit + Lost Animal
M+N's Lunchbox series continued with our first double header at 1000 ₤ Bend in Melbourne's CBD on April 23. Performing in The Bend's exhibition space were Lost Animal (aka Jarrod Quarrell of St Helens and New Season fame) and Sydney's Circle Pit, who played songs from their debut album Bruise Constellation.
Photos by KRISTY MILLIKEN.
Fantastic pictures. I love the first one.
These photos are radical. All the people in the crowd have dumber fashion sense. Moustaches!
Are you suggesting that you look more like Circle Pit than you do the audience of the show?
Man I wish I could have a 1992 soft metal fashion sense. Fuck that's style.
They are really nice photos. I really like the colours in most of them. All the blonde/blond hair, dirty white walls and the denim. Looks cool.
I see the guy with grey hair on pic 5 everywhere. Is he a chat?
Block.
Ditto. Ditto.
i STILL don't get the whole ''bashed for looking weird thing''.
homey is wearing a denim jacket, black jeans, flanny, what appears to be an ironic 80s rock shirt and a pair of airforce ones.
pretty much stock standard issue on any mannequin in the window of General Pants or even places like PO Box or Industrie these days...
I'm with you dnzr, all I can ascertain from all this is that he must just be a turd. This is stock standard issue clothing everywhere from Penrith to Ipswich.
And if I'm right, I gather that's an Appetite for Destruction t-shirt.
i just find it interesting that if you TELL people you dress all crazy and out there, then they'll believe it.
so many kids in the other threads parroting the band and each other saying ''see, they look different to other bands they are bringing back the hedonism and glam vibe''
i would have been so happy if the photos had shown him in a fur coat and gold lame pants with a dead rabbit stapled to them.
instead all i see is a skinny version of a dude from Airbourne.
All I see is the kid I used to drink goon with on the Westfield roof with 16 years ago in Strathpine whilst we listened to Vulgar Display of Power.
''bringing back the hedonism and glam vibe''
i so don't see that at all myself, more like ''indie approved ironic hedonism and ironic glam vibe''
but eh, good on em, if they do well congratulations, their music doesn't do it for me but i am sure there are plenty who love it
i am not a hater, jack is a sweet person whenever i encountered him and i hope he does really really well
i wish 'em all the best too...
not a hater at all, just don't get why all the kiddies are singing them up as the next coming of Marc Bolan with a smattering of junkie chic.
cause kids, for the most part, have no idea?
Block is a dude?
He is The Dude.
Dudel
Um, nah. That's pretty offensive mate.
Why not just ask if he's pregnant and be done with it?!
All the kids ain't singing em praise, thats why there are now 4 threads slagging them off.
I like a fair wack of their songs, thats the be all and end all for any band I like.
Just so happens I like them as people too, no matter how they dress.
Yall need to stop making this into somthing more then it is.
that ''another trick'' song is quite enjoyable.
Nah, I always thought Block is a hot chick.
The best part of photo #5 is that Block is just about to walk up to me to say ''When it's done, do you wanna bash him ?''.
True story.
Good band.
Funny thing is, after seeing them - I get it.
I'm looking forward to hearing the record. I should have bought it.
They're a good loud indie pop band. I like that.
He still is.
Thanks for clarifying that, QE.
Hang on, so is Block a chick or a dude?
STOP THINKING ABOUT IT.
The harder I try not to think about it....nothing.
the audience at this gig look like they could do with a Red Bull enema.
plus - dirty white canvas slip on shoes...ergh
