Spectrum Notches Up Half A Decade

It's survived thousands of bands, a State Government lock-out and a reluctant booze-brand redecoration, but Spectrum – the self-described “epicentre of Sydney's live music scene” – is still going strong. The Oxford Street venue will celebrate its fifth birthday tonight (July 31) from 8pm.

Leading the celebrations will be Young & Restless, The Seabellies, The E.L.F., Dappled Dave (aka Dave Rennick of Dappled Cities), We Say Bamboulee, More Pop Less Rave DJs, and of course, the P*A*S*H DJs until late. Cost: $20.

I sure hope so! Music is art is fluidity. Even five years old is getting into the dangerous territory of music-as-institutionalism.

Sydney rocks cause Sydney can accommodate change as often as the wind blows.
