Heinz Riegler Announces Tour, Cassette

Heinz Riegler will take a break from recording his debut solo album when he embarks on an east-coast tour in October. Riegler, a former member of Not From There and Nightstick, will perform shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in support of a new limited-edition cassette.

Titled Survey #1, the tape features cuts from Riegler’s forthcoming album, as well as instrumental compositions commissioned by Queensland’s Gallery of Modern Art, some rare I/03 recordings and previously unheard material of collaborations spanning the past 10 years. And trust us when we say limited: a mere 60 copies will only be available at shows. The cassette also features artwork by Alex Gillies of No Anchor fame.

Riegler has recently augmented his live shows with Meredith McHugh (ex-Rational Academy, Delpino), Seja Vogel (Sekiden, Regurgitator) and Susie Patten (I Heart Hiroshima). They will accompany him on most legs of the tour.

The Tuesday Old Bar gig is also my exhibition opening. Should be a cracking good time.

This is all cool and stuff, but why is he wearing that hat?

tinyman  said about 3 years ago:

anyone heard him? what's his solo stuff like?

Punch  said about 3 years ago:

i saw his solo show at the toff last time he was here. it was quite arresting. just him, no mics, no lights, just him and his guitar and his voice in the dark of the toff. really lovely show.

tinyman  said about 3 years ago:

no mics?!

ONESUMMER  said about 3 years ago:

the solo shows have been amazing - not taking anything away from the killer lineup he's assembled - just that, for me, the quartet hasnt yet hit the peaks those first few solo nylon string shows did....im sure theyll get there tho.

tinyman  said about 3 years ago:

oh, finally bothered to actually read the article.

bloody cassettes!

werd.

Needyneddy  said about 3 years ago:

Wow, have seen the Heinz + ladies show, it is spectacular. Stoked so many Melbourne shows!

mulligan  said about 3 years ago:

When Heinz last played the old bar it was just him on a nylon string acoustic. No mic's, no guitar strap, he just stood in the middle of the floor and it was great. Can't wait to see him play again. An all round lovely chap and fantastic songwriter.

penny lame  said about 3 years ago:

the cassettes look amazing. alex does wonderful work.
i personally love the shows with the girls. meredith is flawless and her voice works wonderfully with heinz

ONESUMMER  said about 3 years ago:

true - their duet is a real set highlight!

hedgehog  said about 3 years ago:

60 is a very small amount to release... I can imagine them all selling out before he makes it to Melbourne!

NiteShok  said about 3 years ago:

Is it just me, or are cassette releases the most pretentious thing ever?

liamsnice  said about 3 years ago:

why are they pretentious? its just a way of putting out music, no different to putting out vinyl.

penny lame  said about 3 years ago:

i like tapes. i lose cds and generally leave them all over the floor till they are so scratched they are unlistenable. tapes and vinyl seem to have more permanence to them

FrankieTeardrop  said about 3 years ago:

Home taping is killing music. Cassettes are the work of the devil!

Nah, I love tapes.
