M+N Lunchbox Series #2: Otouto

The M+N Lunchbox continues next month with a free performance by eclectic pop outfit Otouto (pronounced “otto-ootoe”) at 1000 £ Bend in Melbourne’s CBD.
Comprised of siblings Hazel and Martha Brown and Kishore Ryan from Kid Sam, the trio will perform in The Bend’s purpose-built exhibition space on March 5 (the day before the Golden Plains music festival in rural Victoria) at 1pm.
The band have garnered acclaim from the likes of US folk musician Jim White for their all-action live show that incorporates pots and pans for percussion, as well as baritone guitar, Farfisa and homemade keyboards. Their debut album, Pip, will be out on March 22 through Two Bright Lakes. In the meantime, you can listen to its “wistfully abstract” first single, ‘Sushi’, here.
The first Lunchbox gig was held on February 5 with a performance by Denim Owl. Photo evidence here, with footage to be posted soon on M+N TV.

Otouto were fantastic. Perfect venue for them too.
Amazing band - I loved every minute!
Due to time constraints, I saw the soundcheck then the first 15 minutes of the set. They were OK by me.
Loadie & I figured that as these don't seem to be publicised anywhere else but M+N, a lot of that crowd were lurkers.
