Melbourne noir-rock outfit The Spoils will play their last show on Australian soil for the foreseeable future at The Northcote Social Club tonight (April 9). The band will soon head to Europe to “concentrate on their growing fanbase” and support the release of a new vinyl compilation. Out through French label Beast Records, it features selections from their 2005 album Goodnight Victoria and last year’s The Crook, The Cloak & The Maiden. The band have also released a new video for the single ‘I’ll Be Gone’, which you can view here. Supports at the NSC show by The Night Terrors and Hugo Race.
The Crate Digger Record Fair returns to Yah Yahs in Melbourne this Sunday. First held in February, the event saw stallholders – from record stores to former Tote proprietor Bruce Milne – flogging their wares to hundreds of vinyl junkies. And this weekend’s event promises to be no different with stalls stretched out over three rooms. Doors open at 2pm with Spencer P Jones & The Escape Committee on at 6pm. Entry: $2 before 5pm, free thereafter
Brisbane art rockers Drawn From Bees will perform two shows in Melbourne this weekend in support of new single ‘Run Away’. The band will perform an in-store at Pure Pop Records at 3pm ahead of a headline gig at Pony with Polygon Palace and High Falutin. The single is lifted from the band’s forthcoming album, Fear Not The Footsteps Of The Departed, which is part of their “self-imposed schedule to write, record and release a body of work every six months for two years”.
