M+N is proud to (belatedly) announce the next installment of our monthly lunchtime series at 1000 £ Bend in Melbourne’s CBD.

Following sets by Denim Owl and Otouto, Lost Animal (aka Jarrod Quarrell of St Helens and New Season fame) will make a rare live appearance in the Bend’s exhibition space, 361 Little Lonsdale Street, next Friday (April 23) at 1pm. Entry is free.

Since disbanding St Helens last month, Quarrell has focussed his energies on solo project Lost Animal, which features live keys and vocals set against pre-recorded backing. From the bio: “The music of Lost Animal is a rhythmic brew of minimal keyboard melodies, melodic funk bass, free jazz sax licks and broken hearted crooner vocals. LA is currently in the studio with John Lee and Shags Chamberlain finishing the first Lost Animal record.”

In a recent interview with M+N, Quarrell said the LA live experience was all about pushing boundaries. “With the live show I feel like I'm pushing myself and ultimately that's what Lost Animal is all about to me,” he said.

Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day; buy that man a shirt and he'll eat forever.
