Drones, Kes Band At Melbourne Fest

Pikelet supporting Low. Kes Band and Bum Creek with The Boredoms. The first Drones (Melbourne) headline show in yonks. This is what you can expect from the Beck’s Festival Bar, which is running again as part of October’s Melbourne Festival.

Presented over seven nights at The Forum Theatre, the program has been selected to “respond to themes of shamanism, cult bands and music as religious experience”. We have no idea what that means, but it translates to a globally eclectic bill that includes the likes of Dead Meadow, Sage Francis and Mariachi El Bronx from the US, Dengue Fever from Cambodia, P.K.14 from China and Sri Lanka’s Stigmata. Local acts (other than the ones mentioned above) include Eagle & The Worm, Dexter, The Ukeladies, Blarke Bayer/Black Widow, Horrorshow, Johnnie and The Johnnie Johnnies, The Twerps and Ponzu Island. Full line-up below.

Tickets are a nifty $20 for each night. Click here for bookings.

drones played a headline show in adelaide last saturday!

JudyDickslap  said about 2 years ago:

And Mike Noga played after us at the Grace but I was too shickered after drinking half a slab of Coopers/too busy earbashing the drummer from the Molting Vultures to pay any attention,

hyperfuzz  said about 2 years ago:

as i said in the other thread, i booked four tickets for three different shows and got a 15% discount... ended up being $52 per person (including postage and booking) for three shows.

Fuck, I'm overseas.
Dangit!

LaxCharisma  said about 2 years ago:

Does any of this come to Sydney or is this Melbournes revenge for the Lou an Laurie cuaration at the Opera House?

King_Rat  said about 2 years ago:

Yeah it's probably revenge, that's obvious.

''The first Drones (Melbourne) headline show in yonks.''

happy now pedant?! ;)

hyperfuzz  said about 2 years ago:

no, because now it seems like you're talking about the Drones Melbourne rather than Drones USA. it should really say ''The first Melbourne show for The Drones in yonks.'' then again, the show in adelaide was an invite only event and by the time October comes it'll be yonks anyway. so please change it back again.

hyperfuzz  said about 2 years ago:

now please.

black wasp!  said about 2 years ago:

Who books this? Is it Sophi(a/e) Brous?

Also, do you guys think this is the best opportunity to see the Drones? Never seen them, don't really like their songs, haven't enjoyed live footage of them. Should I bother trying?

nyx  said about 2 years ago:

They are playing one here this saturday!

nyx  said about 2 years ago:

I'm kind of tempted by some of these shows and then kinda not. I didn't go to any last year and I was more interested in the bands that time.

Wouldn't mind seeing the Boredoms + Kes Band + Bum Creek show though.

black wasp, supple fox (hannah fox, tom supple) curated this.

i'm looking forward to the boredoms.....personally i think the theme could have allowed for a more diverse line-up but i'm sure there's all sorts of shite behind the scenes that affected things...
