Two Bright Lakes Sign Collarbones

Electronic pop duo Collarbones are the latest act to make Two Bright Lakes their home. The duo of Adelaide's Travis Cook (Cyst Impaled) and Sydney's Marcus Whale (Scissor Lock) have just inked a deal with the artist-run Melbourne indie, joining a roster that includes Psuche, Otouto, Kid Sam, Hello Satellites and Seagull.

The pair’s first release for Two Bright Lakes will be new single, ‘Beaman Park’, a hip-hop influenced pop track, which has been described as a “J Dilla/Aphex Twin/Aaliyah love child”. It’s lifted from the band’s upcoming album Iconography. Listen to it here

Formed over the internet in late 2007, Collarbones intermittently circulated songs on blogs and Sydney and Melbourne community radio before releasing the Waiting for the Ghosts EP independently in 2009. (Read a review of it here.) Earlier this year, they received a Soundclash grant from the Australia Council which helped the band release the single ‘Kill Off The Vowels’.

Great TBL night at the Buffalo Club last night. I'm not 100% sure who the bands we were watching were, though suspect it was Fox + Sui and the Harpoons. Both brilliant. Quite excited by some of the new (or maybe they're not that new, I'm not sure) acts around Melbourne at the moment. That's not something I thought I'd hear myself say at this stage of the game.
