Are festival cancellations the new festival announcements? Following BAM!’s demise and Homebake’s postponement, comes news that Days Like This! will not be taking place in January as planned.
No specific reasons have been given for the festival’s postponement, but at least organisers didn’t resort to metaphysical drivel about the planets not being aligned. Days Like This! has taken place at Sydney’s Moore Park in early January for the past two years. Last year's event saw performances by the likes of Pivot, teenagersintokyo, Cat Power, The Cat Empire and Method Man.
Cloud Control and Washington couldn't be reached for comment, but here's a full statement from organisers:
After a stellar debut in 2009 and follow up in 2010, Niche Productions and Waterfall Entertainment have decided that January 2011 will not be brightened by Days Like This!
After much deliberation, soul searching and many sleepless nights, we have decided to postpone the 2011 festival and look at a new date option for the festival’s return.
In January 2009, Days Like This! was launched as an alternative for the Sydney music followers and featured the likes of Fat Freddy’s Drop, Public Enemy, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings as well as many more local and international names.
January 2010 saw the festival’s spectacular follow up featuring Roots Manuva, Method Man & Redman, The Cat Empire and Cat Power. Heralded as a breath of fresh air for festival-goers, Days Like This! is a boutique festival, featuring a hand crafted line up, gourmet food and world class facilities.
In what has been a busy year for Niche Productions, including shows from hip hop legends A Tribe Called Quest, the decision to postpone was made with a heavy heart.

If this trend continues, it won't be long until flag-cape-wearing bogans are forced to wander the suburbs looking for church fetes and baby showers to ruin.

Less festivals, more shows at pubs.
There are some ripper courtyards around Melbourne that should be utilised for daytime summer gigs.
Fuck pubs, more shows in closets with home brew and dogs humping.
Pubs fuck dogs in brew closets with more humping home.
