Lunchbox #7: Eagle & The Worm/P.K.14

After a short hiatus, the M+N Lunchbox series returns for a one-off gig as part of Melbourne Festival next Tuesday (October 19), 1pm.

Performing a free show at 1000 £ Bend will be Melbourne eight-piece Eagle & The Worm in a unique collaboration with China’s P.K.14, who are making their Australian debut. Both bands will play sold out Beck’s Festival Bar shows over the coming weeks: P.K.14 with The Drones and The Twerps on October 22 and Eagle & The Worm with Mariachi El Bronx and The Ukeladies on October 23. More details here.

The gig, which will see both acts collaborate on each other’s material, will take place in the Bend’s exhibition space at the same time as urban art exhibition Sweet Streets. We'll also be giving away tickets to other Beck’s Bar performances, including the sold-out P.K.14 and Eagle & The Worm shows.

Past Lunchbox performers have included Dan Kelly, Pikelet, Circle Pit, Otouto and Denim Owl. Check out photos, videos and news about upcoming events at our dedicated Lunchbox page.

Actionralf  said about 2 years ago:

What time does P.K14 play? I get an hour lunch I could take around whatever time it is that they play

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

TODAY!

filterfeed  said about 2 years ago:

good answer, jose.

no really, what are the playing times? usually i could take the longest lunch in the world. just not today.

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

They'll be on around 1.10 or so. 40 minute set. At this stage, P.K.14 on first then E&TW and then a collab.

TransientRandom  said about 2 years ago:

I thought this band were so great at the weekend, but I know how poorly backward-looking pop played by extroardinarily competent musicians goes down on this website. Curious for the verdict.

filterfeed  said about 2 years ago:

damn, now you got me thinking i should be there. there's still time...

filterfeed  said about 2 years ago:

could really use a beer too.

Actionralf  said about 2 years ago:

I only got to see one song of P.K.14, it was good...would have liked to see the whole set.

dikdikdik  said about 2 years ago:

easily the best chinese ''poorly backward-looking pop'' band Ive ever seen....

Actionralf  said about 2 years ago:

I thought this band were so great at the weekend

Are you talking about P.K.14 or Eagle and the Worm?

TransientRandom  said about 2 years ago:

Eagle and the worm. I said ''goes down poorly'', I did not call the band ''poorly''. Why would I contradict myself?

russiancaravan  said about 2 years ago:

I had to dash back to work so I sadly missed most of P.K. 14. I thought Eagle and the Worm were mint.

pagey  said about 2 years ago:

both bands were awesome. i love the lunchbox.

tenzenmen  said about 2 years ago:

this was cool and thanks for the great turn out! everyone is looking forward to friday.
