– Recently remixed by Seekae on the bonus disk of their debut The Sound of Trees Falling on People, ‘June Strangelets’ is the kind of rumbling, vaguely tribal, feel-good anthem audiences have come to expect from Sydney delay merchants Megastick Fanfare. The track, which has been put on rotation by FBi, is available for free download once you sign up to their newsletter. Meanwhile, Megastick Fanfare are playing tonight (October 20) at Otis Bar in Wollongong with kyü and tomorrow at the Basement in Sydney as part of the Speakeasy series.
– PVT’s second single ‘Light Up Bright Fires’ – originally from their album Church With No Magic – is out now as a digital remix EP on iTunes. The EP features remixes of the single by Nathan Fake and Seekae, as well as takes on ‘Window’ by Dorian Concept and Danimals. PVT are currently in the US on the last leg of their world tour. They’ll return to Australia for the Peats Ridge, Summadayze and Laneways festivals. Watch the Alex Smith-directed video of ‘Light Up Bright Fires’ here.
– Nineties stalwarts Jebediah have released a taster of their forthcoming new album Kosciuszko, their first since 2004’s Braxton Hicks. ‘Under Your Bed’, a sharp two-minute belter full of Cold War paranoia (“Reds are under your bed”), is available for free download via the band’s newly constructed website. Recorded in Perth over several months with Dave Parkin (Sugar Army, Snowman, Karnivool), Kosciuszko will be out in early 2011.
