Is Tim Rogers the fittest man in rock’n’roll? Just minutes after vice-captaining the Espy Rockdogs at June’s Community Cup in Melbourne, Rogers and his band You Am I will perform at the post-match event.
“After my inconsistent, show-ponyesque performances on the field for the mighty Rockdogs, I wanted to contribute ferociously to Melbourne’s premier A-list event by slaughtering our own back catalogue of cult classics post match,” Rogers said in a release.
Other acts confirmed for the charity football match, which will take place at Elsternwick Park on June 26, are Wollongong’s Tumbleweed, Mercy Kills and The Rebelles. In keeping with this year’s theme, “Do you love me?”, all bands will perform a Nick Cave song as part of their set.
All funds raised for the event will go towards Reclink, an organisation providing sport and arts activities to help people experiencing disadvantage. More than $180,000 was raised at last year’s one-point thriller. Photos here.

gonna be a good day, yeah!
dude takes this game too seriously.
Tim Rogers. Legend.
It's the Rebelles not the Ravelles. Hopefully all 19 of them can fit on the stage.
Tim and Tex did play with the Rockwiz Orchestra in 2007 but Tim is usual too focussed on the game to play.
Hopefully the Rockdogs play better than they did against the Tote side, yeesh!
If they slaughter Pizza Guy I'd be happy.
This bill is more than enough to finally get me to attend.
So do the bands play after the people kick the thing around? I'd like to be able to miss the kicking bit.
Usually before/half-time/full-time. Difficult to avoid the footy.
easy enough to not pay attention to it and sit on the grass drinking beer though.
Hmmmm, maybe I can recluse to the bus and read a book in-between.
Sounds like something my mate said the other day.
''Wanna go to your first game of organised sport?''
''Can I take a book?''
''No.''
Reading is a sport isn't it?
Speed reading maybe.
I'll bring the dexamphetamine.
Great!
I had some of that a few weeks ago, jumped in the bath and read a book cover to cover
in two hours.
You don't have to watch the footy, I don't see that much on the day due to running around all day.
Getting excited!
So, whats the story with drinking at this thing?
dunno, but I will be!
Like, can you bring along a 6 pack in a bag, or u buy there?
Or, both!?!?!

Just get the 67 Tram from the city and it'll take you were you wanna go.... get off at the intersection of Glenhuntly Rd/Brighton Rd... you'll see Macca's on the corner... ask the team driver where the oval is... walk.
*''some'' far off land...
*Tram driver... fark my iPhone typos!
I tell a lie – I saw Before Sunset at the Elsternwick Cinema. About seven years ago. Recent!
Neither, I believe they were called The Level Spirits.
bloody hell 'hertz...
Shite game. Megahertz need the match committee to take over. Joel Bowden at centre half forward would have been handy and Pang off a half back flank.

does either team care about the result?
The entire team of Rockdogs telling JVG to fuck off at 3/4 time was a highlight.
Did get a photo of the players carrying Paul Kelly on their shoulders at the end of the match.
Some people care more about this match than regular footy.
Was going hearing some players talking afterwards about how they only play one match per year, but they get to play in front of 10,000 people.
Why did they tell JVG to fuck off?
Was he a mole for the megahertz?
The Community Cup needs to take its place as the only true football El Clásico representing the Melbourne north/south-of-the-river rivalry. People need to live and die by the result. Police need to rule the day with their batons. Players need to spit on opposing fans like they love it. And fans need to punch on like its a problem.
Otherwise I had a good time. You Am I were great.
Noticed a few of the Espy players that also play for the Tote in pub footy. Seems suspect.
The Rockdogs got canned by the Tote team in September last year, they took something away from it at least.
That would of been me. All apologies. Had to do it sometime!
A Labour in Vain player also, winning the Dave McComb medal yesterday.
Police raid on the after party up the road after the match, must have been a big one.
Nice photos of my dog, Tim..

Took less photos than last year for some reason.
