Pikelet’s Australian Music Prize-nominated Stem came out early last year, but it’s still yielding some tasty treats like a new video for single ‘Toby Light’.
Directed by Matt Richards (who’s shot clips for Laura Jean, Firekites, Charge Group and yours truly as part of our Lunchbox series), it tells the story of a duck hunter who becomes obsessed with his targets, which fits with the song's tale of a man hoping to transform himself into light.
Here’s what Pikelet’s Evelyn Morris told us about the song in a “Track by Track” interview last year: “It’s a comment on that feeling that (I think) most humans get from time to time that usually becomes distilled and diminished down to feeble questions such as, ‘What does it all mean?’, or, ‘What the heck is the point?’” It’s also an attempt to lighten that feeling within myself – hence the jaunty feel of the song, and somewhat silly theme.”
Pikelet’s national tour starts this Saturday (May 7) at FBi Social at the Kings Cross Hotel in Sydney. Dates here.

Pikelet's singing has gotten awesome, great phrasing, emotion and control. A fully sick listen.

Hugh is some sort of art dealer from what I understand. Guy lost all his art and his whole house, except for the porch in a fire. He's now rebuilt with a couple of friends a new eco-friendly house on the same spot with the same porch. It's pretty sweet.
