Melbourne’s Baseball To Bat Again
News posted Tuesday, May 10 2011 at 02:00 PM.
Related: Baseball.
With members busy with side projects including High Tea, Cuba Is Japan, Pikelet, Love of Diagrams and Paul Kidney Experience, it’s safe to say a Baseball reunion hasn’t really been on the cards for a while. Until now.
The Melbourne four-piece will play their first show in three years next month. The occasion: a fundraiser for Japan earthquake victims at The Tote in their hometown on June 5. The band – Evelyn Morris aka Pikelet, Monika Fikerle, Ben Butcher and Cameron Potts – will play alongside the “effectively retired” Minimum Chips, as well as No Zu, Gosteleradio and Tailor Made for Small Rooms.
All money raised will be donated to the Red Cross Japan and Pacific Disaster Appeal 2011, which is assisting people affected by the nine-magnitude earthquake and the devastating tsunami waves that hit north-east Japan in March.
Baseball’s most recent album, Animal Kingdom, was released in 2008. It was followed by extensive touring of Europe and Asia including dates in Russia.
Doors open at 4pm.

Reunion? To be honest I didn't even know they had ''gone on hiatus''.
nice!
Hang on... is Washington a member of Baseball? :-O
That's not Washington, that's Cam, the dude who sings and plays violin.
Too Frankie.
Needs more fruity baseball puns:
''With members busy with side projects including High Tea, Cuba Is Japan, Pikelet, Love of Diagrams and Paul Kidney Experience, it’s safe to say that Baseball have played their last innings''
''All money raised will be donated to the Red Cross Japan and Pacific Disaster Appeal 2011, which is a real home run for people affected''
etc.
Lazy journalism
this show is sure to knock one right out of the park
and should have said home-base instead of hometown.
I welcome their return.
Joining a line-up worth its weight in diamonds, pitch-perfect swingers Baseball have been caught out going to third base with Paul Kidney.
they need to pitch better ideas in the M+N news room.
that was left of field
seriously guys, you have had more than enough strikes at this one.
heh
Inclusion of Minimum Chips on the lineup is a bit of a curve ball though.
they're quite a catch
All in all, the lineup is fairly safe.
Bah to all this riffing.
It's a nice photo.
they have dugout a good line up.
Too Cookie. ;)
monika is a bit of a
Contains pun.
''Hang on... is Washington a member of Baseball? :-O''
I've been trying to tell people that she stole me look! Hence my getting contact lenses. (Among various other reasons.)
PS - My 'look' wasn't even that good... so she's welcome to it. Change is as good as a holiday.
Fuck, will be in Sydney.
Ha, that photo is ooooold - I forgot I even took it!
whilst watching soft-porn film 'The Band' the other day, I noticed Baseball (and Jihad Against America) were on the upcoming shows blackboard during a scene at The Tote when the lesbian band manager first cracks on to the singer.
It made me wonder how long it had been since I'd seen Baseball.
3 years, then!
I wonder if Washington's any good at the drums?
Like.... Tim Roger thought you are Washington and bear hug you from behind?
This is an arvo/eve gig everyone... so dont get there too late....
times:
Baseball - 9.15 – 10.00
Minimum Chips - 8.10 – 8.50
No Zu - 7.10 – 7.50
Gosteleradio - 6.10 – 6.50
Tailor Made for Small - 5.10 – 5.50
very excited about this!
ALSO.... some of the best Sake brewers lost their historical Sake factories (some started a few hundred years ago). If you order Sake in any Japanese bar here in Aus, order the one from the Tohoku area, particularly Miyagi, Sendai, Iwate, or Hukushima. It will help them.
Tohoku region Sake will be available on the night, especially imported to the Tote...
Kampai!!!!
''Tailor Made for Small''... lol. It's ''Tailor Made for a Small Room''.
woops... I just cut and paste that info from a worksheet.... my bad.
yes Tailor Made for a Small Room are playing first.
Tickets - presale , here get thems
