Touring News: Gin Club, Jack Ladder, Regurgitator, Panda Band

– Brisbane collective The Gin Club have no album to promote, or agenda to push, but that’s not stopping them from getting back in the van for a tour. There is some sort of agenda though: the band will be collecting footage and audio for a live CD/DVD, which will be released at the end of the year. Supports include Melbourne's Harmony (a new project featuring members from The Nation Blue, The Ukeladies and McClusky); Laura Imbruglia; and Melbourne-via-New Zealand outfit Howl At The Moon. In Sydney The Gin Club will be supporting Melbourne's Wagons at the Annandale Hotel. All people through the door get a free download code for a new collection of “b-sides, rarities and what not”, titled Hissy Fit Volume 2. Tickets on sale via Oztix.

– After a couple teaser shows in Melbourne and Sydney, during which he previewed songs from his new album Hurtsville, Jack Ladder has announced an official album launch tour. Ladder and his newly christened band The Dreamlanders – Cec Condon (The Mess Hall, filling in for Laurenz Pike), Kirin J Callinan and Beau Cassidy (Starky, filling in for Donny Benét) – will play the album in its entirety in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. The tour coincides with Hurtsville’s June 10 release through Spunk. The album – Ladder’s third – was recorded by Burke Reid (Gerling, The Drones) at the same estate in Yass, where Gareth Liddiard recorded last year’s Strange Tourist. It’s currently for sale.

– “Flopping around in the splendour of the astroturfing, the effervescent mannequins of iconic interpay bum rush the 'flo to the stunts and blunts of a gunkholing world inside their annual sail tour.” We can’t make heads or tail of that press release babble either, but we think it means Regurgitator are embarking on some sort of tour. The band will reportedly be playing new songs across the nation (again, hard to discern), with New Zealand electro-pop act Disasteradio in tow.

– Perth’s The Panda Band may have disappeared off the local circuit for the past couple years, but the band have been A. hard at work; B. touring across America; C. writing new material; and D. building their own studio. Busy guys. Ahead of the July 15 release of new album Charisma Weapon, the quartet will play a bunch of regional dates in their native WA, as well as shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Charisma Weapon was mixed by Magoo (Regurgitator, Operator Please) and mastered by Steve Fallone at Sterling Sounds in New York City. It’ll be out through their own label Bam*Boo via MGM. I hope Jack Ladder's show goes down better at The East.

Looking forward to another Regurgitator tour. Caught them a couple of times over the last year or so and both shows were excellent.
