Watch: New Adalita ‘Fool Around’

After shooting recent clips in regional Victoria and Mount Baw Baw, Adalita and filmmaker Adam Harding have gone for a more inner-city feel for ‘Fool Around’, the latest cut lifted from her acclaimed self-titled solo debut.
Inspired by David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, it was filmed at collaborator JP Shilo's house, as well as Fitzroy, Chinatown and Collingwood in Melbourne, with lighting assistance from noted local photographer Ben Butcher. It’s the fourth video to come from the album, with Harding directing ‘Hot Air’, ‘The Repairer’ and ‘Perfection’ as well.

it's so intense when she's walking down the street, and then she hails the cab, and then she opens the door and gets in the cab, and then she's in the back of the cab, but she's not staying anything, she's just really having a think, or maybe she's not, i guess that's where the intensity comes from. great video.

frankie, frankie, frankieee - look - it's really hard to tell, she's very enigmatic (the black mascara and the dark, cobbled alleyway she walked down are enough to convince me that she's definitely enigmatic). but i'll have a stab.
at first i thought she might be quite happy that the taxi arrived fairly quickly, but she didn't seem that thrilled at all. then you add to this the fact that there's no evidence at all she's even making any attempt to chum up with the taxi driver; how's your night been mate? long to go till the end of your shift? whereabouts is your accent from? taxi drivers love it when someone important takes an interest. also, and this is pretty subtle, the action takes place at night time, which is a very dark time, especially at a latitude that far from the magnetic south pole.
you know where i'm going with this don't you? i have a feeling that her thoughts must be coming from a very, very dark place. but what is she thinking specifically? what can a good looking young woman with a succesful career in rock'n'roll music be feeling so dark about? how much recording the album cost her? some personal loss? the royalties she'll need to pay pj harvey for her look and sound? it's hard to tell...she's very enigmatic.

PJ Harvey? Harsh! I can't hear that at all. Ad always sounds like Ad. Well, OK... occasionally she has sounded a bit like Patti Smith, but those were fleeting moments in the distant past.
