M+N Lunchbox #15: Howling Bells

Before they head out on their first national tour since September 2009, UK-based four-piece Howling Bells will perform a very special mid-week Lunchbox show at the Workers Club in Melbourne on November 29, 1pm.

The free Tuesday afternoon performance (yes, Tuesday) will precede a headline show at The Corner Hotel on November 30, as well as dates in regional Victoria, NSW, Queensland, WA, SA and the ACT. Dates below. The band’s recently released third album The Loudest Engine – the sequel to 2009’s Radio Wars – was produced by The Killers' Mark Stoermer in his Nevada studio. More details here.

It’s been a watershed year for the M+N Lunchbox. Since shifting from 1000 £ Bend in March, the series has seen performances by the likes of Adalita, The Panics, Henry Wagons, Ben Salter and, most recently, The Vasco Era at Fitzroy’s The Workers Club. We also held our first Brisbane Lunchbox with Gold Coast trio Bleeding Knees Club as part of BIGSOUND in September.

As always, the performance will be recorded for later consumption on M+N TV. There’ll also be a sausage sizzle and cheap beers on the day. Check out photos, videos and news about upcoming events at our dedicated Lunchbox page.

It was great.
Didn't play Low Happening.
Really solid band and some good songs.
When I saw them, twice, few years ago, they had a very old raw out-of-control sweaty sexy guitar sound.
