M+N has a time machine!!
it clearly says 2011...
Clearly you used your time machine to go back in time and change it.
There best be a Royal Headache Melbourne sideshow
Kisstroyer on Golden Plains, and now this. Everybody start a tribute act to take advantage of this trend, QUICK!
Fell Over will be back in 2012.
this line up starts off strong and then gets real sucky from
here:
James “Reckless” Reyne
Lanie Lane
AC/DSHE
Snakadaktal
King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
Bittersweet Kicks
Baptism Of Uzi
Merri Creek Pickers

From the website: ''We are increasing our capacity to 1000 this year''
Go on, go time machine that one out of existence too.
Also, can I have a job as a copy editor? Thanks.
I'm wondering if this is from the press release, an M+N editorial addition, or if James Reyne has gotten so worried no one knows who he is anymore that he's adopted ''Reckless'' as an official stage middle name (ala Kevin ''Bloody'' Wilson).
can't wait for this.
best festival i've been to in Tallarook.
That's a sick lineup!
M+N editorial addition
I think I might just attend this.
ZOMG JAMES RECKLESS REYNE. Excitement +++++
Want to go to this, but not sure if I can afford it. Hmm...
Not second consecutive appearance for JTE. He didn't play this year. But who gives a shit. Hooray!
I could see that guy with his kid on his chest from the stage. Plenty of ugly heads on an early Sunday morning. And some lovely folk coming down too of course.
Shoots email off to BT......
i shall miss this no more!
Good thing I probably can't make this one, came very close to using up my only leave pass with Mr jn* by virtually raping JTE with every fibre of my being in 2009. I highly recommend the experience.

Is it just me, or were Royal Headache amazing?
Also, anyone else get pissed off with annoying dickheads camped near them?
the beauty of previous Boogie's was the relaxed and respecting nature of the campers. It was why there were so many kids around. But this year, there were many patches of annoying dudes playing music way too loudly ALL night. I always sleep at festivals with earplugs, but they were 3 of the worst nights at festivals i've had.
sook
there seemed to be a few major campsite parties on each night. we had some annoying types camped next to us that just spoke shit constantly and rarely left their camp, but thankfully they didnt really play that much music during the night..
don't really think it's unreasonable to expect some sleep. tents are pretty thin.
loved the girl who, at 2am, was asked by a parent to turn their ridiculously loud music down (up near the bus at dam camp) because some kids were trying to sleep. She responded with lines like -
''it's my fucking festival! fuck off!''
''don't take your kids to a festival, leave em with grandparents!''
''i'll throw your kids in the fucking dam!''
charming bitch.
That's rude I agree... but taking kids under 6 to a festival is a really stupid idea. I always look down on the folks that do it - it's selfish because the kid is gonna find it a tiring and unenjoyable experience - and the music is too loud for them.
the boogie organisers certainly encouraged the kids thing when it was a lot smaller. by opening the gates to more people, the dickhead factor certainly seems to be increased. it only takes one group of dudes who still think the party is still going, man, to impact on a shitload of people around them.
if boogie wants to retain the family element, they'll probably need to reduce bar prices or allow BYO at the stage (to discourage campsite partying), and ensure music and DJ's continue a lot later than the midnight cutoff. i don't think too many really take advantage of the shed or campfires.
if boogie wants to retain the any good element at all, they'll probably need to reduce the numbers back down to 750 tops
fixed
....and I'd pay double to keep it small - its already in danger of becoming just another festival.
that too.
i think the area can hold the current numbers, but the facilities seemed a little stretched at times.
PS - royal headache were the only thing i thought was better than the Raph burger from beatbox kitchen and the sunsets.
I was so chilled out at this festival I was horizontal most of the time. Generally can sleep through most things so I had no idea about the people over using campsite stereo near the damn bus. I think it's great that Boogie caters to people with kids, was a shame that people were too rude to respect that. The MMF/Golden Plains Silent wedge seems to curtail a bit of that behaviour, which is ace, maybe just reinforcing good behaviour with a method like that a little more? I dunno...
It was freaking freezing near the fires (Even though they were massive) I had no interest hanging around trying to pilfer some warmth when I had warmer options
Kazoos got a massive work out by the marching band we camped next to. That made me happy.
This festival was great. No anxiety with dick heads everywhere, good food, great people, music was fun, I'll go back next year....Although one thing- did anyone else notice the sound being great during the day, but night time not so good?
As if the silence wedge is enforced. It's all down to who you're lucky enough (or not) to camp next to.
i think i was camped next to kazoo town too...
Meh, I think it's more putting the idea out there that it's ''quiet time'', enforced is the wrong word. I found people are generally a little more responsive if they know it's time to kick it down a notch and you have to approach them about it. Having said that, in my experience I've generally made friends with most neighbours or just laughed later on about the inane crap I've overheard while trying to sleep. It's a festival though, sleep isn't high on my list of things to do
the shed/bonfire area was going each night till after 3, and you could take as much booze as you liked, so they were providing an option for those that wanted to kick on. thats why I found it a bit strange that there were these really loud (seemingly organized) late night camp site parties scattered around each night. anyways, I had an awesome time all weekend, but I agree that it'd be nice to keep the family inclusive and chilled vibe (but maybe I'm just old)
Yup... Agree with that huts.
Also, needed more Bombers beanies. Counted only 3, but several scarves made up for the deficiency.
That Jim James set was one of the best things Ive ever seen. Stunning...
what an awesome boogie weekend!
i do agree that some dickheads were out of control (was camped near the music pumping all of the first night) but Tupelo you are way off if you think kids under 6 will find a festival such as Boogie a ''tiring and unnenjoyable experience'' ... I have a 3 under 6 who all absolutely loved every minute of it.
And yep that was my partner yelling at the dickheads (at 5am not 2 mind you) ... who thoroughly deserved it. the organisers really try to discourage that kind of douchebaggery and for a very good reason. some people like to sleep (just a bit) and there were areas set up for all night partying.
all in all though there's not much you can do. smaller still equals better and i hear they will try to set up quieter camp next year ... but its still got to have the right balance - i have no problem with people stumbling in to their camp pre-dawn and speaking shit while having a spliff, etc ... it's just when they play prince at 110dbs for hours that it gets old)
heh.... Boogie neighbors....
5am sounds more accurate (i was a little hazy on the timing of everything due to a distinct lack of sleep). and yeah, those clowns deserved a yelling (and probably more after her ridiculous reaction).
PS - hi boogie neighbours!
boooooggggiiie!
i heard uptown girl belting out at about 4.30am on saturday night. haven't heard billy joel at a festival before.
that's so very un-boogie
